I adopted my fur baby here! And I have to say, what an amazing place. She’s well grown now, well looked after and I am so happy to have supported this NPO. My heart broke when I couldn’t get every single pup a house but I have since recommended all my friends and family members that this is the establishment they need to support. Furthermore here is one of Place a Pup’s success stories and photos of her
I recently adopted two pups from Place a Pup. I initially went for one but it was almost impossible to walk away without the other. The adoption process was wonderful, Jess and staff were very helpful before, during and after I had adopted the pups. My babies have settled in so well with my big dogs and instantly made themselves at home. I have to say, the facilities are amazing and place a pup really takes wonderful care of the pups that they have waiting for their fur-ever homes. I highly recommend adopting through them and if you cannot adopt, consider a donation to them as it is plain to see that the animals come first and Place a Pup does an amazing job at caring for these babies.
This place appears to prioritize money over the wellbeing of animals. I adopted a dog from them and no proper adoption process was followed. I viewed and chose the pup a week before collection, there was no home check, no meaningful questions asked or answered, and no verification of my information. When collecting the pup, I was simply shown a card machine and they only looked if i signed the adoption contract. None of the items stated in the adoption contract were provided, no vaccination card, sterilisation voucher, puppy guide, or adoption certificate. The experience felt more like a breeder-style transaction than a responsible rescue adoption. Sadly, this negligence contributed to a failed adoption. The pup arrived tick-infested and showed severe fear of humans. Her fear appeared worse when she was surrendered back to the shelter, which raised concerns about her treatment. When I raised these concerns, I was met with arrogance instead of care for the animal’s wellbeing. When I informed the owner I needed to surrender the pup, she attempted to upsell me another dog. After I explained I could not take two dogs, I was told it was "two dogs or nothing," despite them knowing from the start I could only adopt one. I requested a refund of the R2500 adoption fee due to their breach of contract. The owner agreed to process it as a "gesture of goodwill," but more than a week later, despite multiple follow-ups, the refund has not been honoured. Communication has since become dismissive and unresponsive. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this organization. The way they treat individuals by insults, falcse accusations, blatant lies and arrogance is disheartening, you will not receive any form of support. Not only did i make a loan to cover the adoption fee, but i also setup the dog before she was placed in my care, and spent additional money to take care of her health while she was in my care which has now set me back in a negative in finances. Not to mention upon viewing the pup, within 3 hours a minimum of 15 young puppies were adopted due to the adoption process being so incredibly easy as no home checks are done, and adopters are not verified, however they decline african individuals who behave significantly better than themselves. Absolutely horrified and will never adopt again due to this experience.
Hi guys visited Place a Pup with my wife on Saturday 13th Sep. Such a lovely and welcoming place. Puppies were gorgeous and so well cared for. The bigger dogs were in a beautiful condition too.
