Oak View Manor

Wonderful historic guesthouse. We stopped for our last one night before our flight to UK. Dina was a wonderful host, greeting us, taking time to show us the house. Our room was beautiful and comfortable with a kitchenette so we could make an early cup of tea. Dina and Gavin were very kind, helping me contact a local doctor, and the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. We were lucky and Dina was able to accommodate us having a final birding excursion, later breakfast and later checkout. We will definately stay again. A highlight of our month long stay in South Africa.

We stayed one night before our flight. Beautiful historic guesthouse. Dina, Gavin and team were lovely hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, we felt very welcome. Super fresh food for breakfast and evening meal. We had arranged an early bird watching trip. Dina was able to accommodate a later breakfast and later checkout which made our last day so enjoyable. Safe parking and lovely garden in Heidelberg close to all the amenities. A great stay, we will definately return.

We initially engaged with Oak View Manor while planning our intimate wedding for 30 November. At first, the experience was positive — Dina was warm, helpful, and accommodating, and we appreciated being allowed to provisionally hold the date while we finalised our plans. We had a very tight deadline of 5 weeks to plan and execute our wedding. We ultimately decided not to proceed with the venue due to concerns my fiancé had about the ceremony oak tree having been heavily cut back and the interior décor not aligning with his vision. As soon as that decision was finalised, we communicated it to the venue. The situation escalated after cancellation. Despite the venue’s own written policy stating that a deposit is only required once *another enquiry for the same date* is received (and that the client would be notified at that point), we were never informed of any such enquiry after 25 October, nor were we asked to pay a deposit. In a subsequent voice note, the venue owner confirmed that this was in fact **their error**, stating that it was "their bad." Unfortunately, despite acknowledging this mistake, the venue owner went on to justify the highly personal and unprofessional tone used in her written responses. She stated that she felt justified in personally attacking us, said she would not apologise for how she felt, and described her approach as "as it should be." The message concluded with "let’s agree to disagree." Being spoken to in this way — especially after the venue admitted fault — was deeply unsettling. Disappointment is understandable; personal attacks and condescending remarks toward clients are not. This interaction was unexpected and inappropriate for a business operating in the wedding industry, where emotions are already high and professionalism is essential. While the venue itself may appeal to some, and our initial dealings were positive, the manner in which this cancellation was handled — particularly the personal and unapologetic communication from the owner — left us taken aback and disappointed. I share this review to provide honest context for future couples so they can make an informed decision, not only about the venue, but about how conflict and communication are handled when plans change.

Dina and her wonderful team planned and presented the perfect 50th birthday high tea for our group of 10 women. The decor and table setting looked stunning and the food was so delicious. Oakview Manor is such a beautiful setting for any special celebration! Dina is very professional, creative, fun to work with and her expertise alleviated so much of the usual stress of event planning. She took care of everything and, as hostess, I could just relax and enjoy. Highly recommend. Thank you.

My wife and I were completing a South African road trip and was looking for accommodation which allowed us a short drive next morning to JNB airport. We are very thankful we found the Oak View Manor (less than an hour's drive to airport).||||It's situated in a lovely wee town with many restaurants and shops to chose from. Safe parking is available and once you see the main house and the gardens you will be amazed.||||Very friendly and helpful staff and wow, the interior of the Manor is outstanding. Anybody interested in history will spend much time admiring the pictures and artifacts which are on show. We had breakfast too and this also was first class.||||There is also a, bar in the Manor for anybody who enjoys a good South African wine or beer.

I love Oak View Manor. The building, interior and the history. Whatever the celebration, Oak View is the place to book. Food is devine, friendly smiling people, with excellent service. You feel right at home. Location is great, away from the huff and puff of busy street noise, with a garden full of bird life.

One of the best kept secret gems of Johannesburg. Had the pleasure of having my family Xmas lunch here and guys this is something you have to experience. From the decor, food and Dina and Gavin amazing hospitality is not to be missed. Make a date and go visit the team, 🎄💙🎅🏽🎁
