Kilo 9 Academy

What an incredible experience we have had and still have with Kilo 9! We sent our beautiful Mali to them for 8 months and she has come back to us thriving and trained in protection. Chrisjan has even showed us where we can go in Cape Town to keep her training up! We got constant updates and videos and photos. They guided us through every situation and guided us through all the training that they did with her. She is just an incredible dog and our friends sent their 2 Dutch shepherds to Kilo 9 after seeing how our beauty thrived from being there. They still keep in contact with us which is amazing! You know they really care. If you are thinking to go to Kilo 9 or use their services at all, YOU ARE THINKING RIGHT! DO IT! you have everything to gain and nothing to loose. Thank you Kilo 9 for doing the most in our babies life and we appreciate you! We cant wait to come back and visit, maybe leave our 2nd doggie there next time too for search and rescue! 😉

By far the most dedicated, knowledgeable, passionate, and inspiring team I have ever had the privilege of meeting and learning from. I could go on and on for hours about Kilo9. As a student, one gets to experience a huge variety of environments and learn invaluable skills as well as see what goes on behind the scenes of such advanced anti-poaching solutions. I was able to take my dog and learn with him as well as experience handling a number of different dogs. All in all, it is an indescribably beautiful place, has excellent accommodation, and offers experiences of a lifetime. I will go so far as to say it has changed my life for the better.

I sent my 2 Dutchies for training at Kilo9 after a recommendation from someone else who had their Malinois trained there. I was reluctant to send them anywhere, but they needed training and I needed some time to restructure my life. I sent them there for 6 months and I’m really happy I did. Some behavioural issues were resolved, both did protection and detection training. They received great training and stimulation in an environment that’s enviable. I dropped them off and went to visit them before the training ended, a long drive from Cape Town to the Eastern Cape, but worth it to see where they’d be and how they were doing. Chrisjan delivered them to me in Cape Town along with a handover covering different aspects of their training and resources closer by to keep up their training.

Great instructors and learned a lot from these guys,they are very passionate and deticated. As a handler I been working with them for a long time and they teached me everything I know. The working dogs coming from them are well trained and has amazing genetics. All dogs that get posted with K9 units, that I know of, are all legends and we'll known in the areas they end up in. They can provide the best quality of training for dogs, handlers and trainers. If your looking for great practical experience and working dogs in one of the most beautiful Game reserves in the country This is the place to be!!

I learned so much at Kilo 9! The ability to get hands on experience with working dogs and to be able to learn their behavior is incredible. Chrisjan and Warrick are both so passionate and knowledgeable. The ability to see and work with a wide variety of dogs and learn their different quirks is something I will never forget. Understanding the different disciplines and how to adapt them into conservation practice is something you can only learn in person. By far one of the best places to go to for learning about K9s, especially for wildlife conservation.

Chrisjan has dedicated his life to working with high drive working dogs and is incredibly knowledgeable. Always willing to help and tailor solutions on an individual level for each dog!
