Waterside Lodge

I've stayed over at several guest houses/ B&B's/ Hotels etc. situated in and around Piet Retief, and the best stay was definitely Waterside lodge. They have a well known owened private entity Restaurant, walk distance from the houses and the whole area is Very Safe & well guarded. Kids area with safety precautions and many more. Very well managed Lodge with the Best, & Most kindest staff. Definitely making this my go to lodge when doing country trips. Highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Upon arrival I was notified that there is no WiFi in the rooms which is a huge inconvenience. The ad on the website is very deceiving. I was told that I can only get WiFi in the restaurant outside the gate. The air-conditioning made so much noise that I had to switch it off. I instead rather faced the cold than the disturbing noise. There was also no towels in the room, because they were apparently busy drying. I was told that the cleaners would bring it to my room but they never came. I was left with one hand towel during my stay. Not very impressed.

Stayed here for something close to a month. All the reception service where nice and welcoming and directive. The rooms were okay, but cleaning was sometimes not done properly. Like you will find a stain still there for days in the bed. There's a restaurant in which you order and they deliver. Security uncles very friendly those ones. I had a nice stay here

This is a great example of average and sometimes bad reviews on accommodation is often better than no reviews at all. ||||On looking for overnight accommodation I came across the Waterside Lodge and read some poor reviews here. So we looked around further and found another establishment with NO reviews and opted to book in there instead. ||||On arrival at the other establishment Anchors Inn, it was pure shock and horror at the location and appearance. Nothing like the website pictures or description. So off we went to Waterside lodge which originally we had decided not to go to due to some of the reviews but as it was now dark and our original plan turned out to not be an option at all we were left with little choice. ||||On arrival at Waterside lodge we were greeted with relatively friendly and accommodating staff. Pleasantly surprised the hotel appeared far more secure than the previous one in town. The rooms were also clean and neat. Value for money I must say fantastic. ||||With a good restaurant "The Grotto" right next door, it was a pleasant relief to be able to walk there and dine on some fine Prawns and at a great price. ||||All in all I can recommend this as an overnight spot and always remember that any rating on an establishment is often better than none at all.

Friendly reception staff, pretty decent restaurant but the rooms are "ok". Oh, and the shower is like a spring rainstorm in the Sahara, you need to run around to catch more than a few drops!

We want to thank the lady at reception for her kindness and help.We stayed for 2night and the room was very neat and we slept well.very safe.we even braai and the whole venue is beautiful with the small dam.campsite as well as a restaurant,pub and slot machines Thankyou to the friendly staff.
