The Cecelia Forest Hiking Trail is a hidden gem in Cape Town, offering a peaceful escape into nature just a stone's throw from the bustling city. I recently visited this trail with my friends, and it quickly became one of our favorite hiking spots. The trail itself is surrounded by lush forest, with towering trees and dense vegetation providing a cool, shaded atmosphere throughout the hike. We found the path to be well-maintained and easy to navigate, making it accessible for hikers of all levels. The trail meanders through the forest, with a variety of scenic viewpoints offering stunning vistas of Cape Town and the surrounding mountains. What really stood out to us was the tranquility of the place. The sounds of birdsong and the rustling of leaves created a serene atmosphere, perfect for unwinding and connecting with nature. There are also some more challenging sections of the trail, providing a good workout while still being manageable for casual hikers. The Cecelia Forest trail is also a great spot for those looking to experience the natural beauty of the Table Mountain National Park without the crowds that often populate other popular spots. The peaceful surroundings, combined with the incredible views, made for an unforgettable hike. Overall, the Cecelia Forest Hiking Trail is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to explore the outdoors in Cape Town. Whether you’re after a relaxing walk in nature or a more invigorating hike, this trail offers the perfect balance of both. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area away from the crowds.
Cecelia Forest Hiking trail is fun for everyone. It varies in terms of difficulty depending on which trail you decide to pursue. While I enjoy the tough trails like Skeleton Gorge and Nursery Ravine, the path to the waterfalls suffices as well. These trails can be enjoyed at your own pace as you don't need to walk too far to enjoy the fairytale of the forest. In winter, it's absolutely stunning with the waterfalls. I highly recommend you get out there.
Really a beautiful place to walk. Easy walking and family and dog oriented. Guard is on duty at car park until about 4pm, so try get back to your car by then. Baboons do walk these trails but there are volunteers that keep them away from walkers. Lots of beautiful dappled sunshine in the forest sections. Perfect for those winter days.
Tough but amazing trail, especially when you get to the dam,s. Little to no signage on the trail, so got a bit lost for a moment.
Nice trail not much of an incline except the steps is abit tiring especially for beginners. The waterfall is definitely worth the trip. Would have liked more signs on the trail to show location and which way to go. Furthermore it is a beautiful sight the hikers on the trail were helpful. I got to see different species of lizards and enjoy the view, would definitely recommend this trail.
Great hiking train to the waterfalls, even after all the 2025 rain so far! The hike is about 2-3 hour depending on your fitness level to the waterfalls and back. The view is gorgeous for about 5mins of the whole route but completely worth it
We started with the the Cecilia forrest trail and crossed over to the Aqueduct, did a loop and back. Saw hundreds of Disa's.
