What an Amazing Animal Park Zoo!! I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and well managed it is. The animals and bird life was wonderful to look at especially the white lion, cheetah, Bengal tiger.....actually all the cat family!! That was my favourite😍 there's a children's play area and an area where you can sit and eat. There's a souvenir shop and tuck shop. Will really go back again and the location is perfect.....halfway between Pretoria and Johannesburg, that's Midrand. Lory Park Zoo you are a hidden and Awesome gem!!

Visiting Lory Park Animal & Owl Sanctuary in Midrand was a truly special and intimate wildlife experience. Tucked away between Johannesburg and Pretoria, this privately run "boutique zoo" offers a peaceful place where visitors can connect with animals up close in a way that feels personal and educational. Unlike larger zoos, Lory Park has a smaller layout, which actually makes the visit more enjoyable. You can walk comfortably through the park without rushing and still see a wide variety of animals. The sanctuary is home to many fascinating species including lions, cheetahs, tigers, jaguars, pumas, smaller wild cats, birds of prey, and reptiles, creating a diverse and engaging experience. One of the highlights of our visit was watching the big cat feeding at around 4pm. Seeing the lions being fed was powerful and exciting — a moment that really reminds you of the strength and beauty of these incredible animals. What makes Lory Park especially unique is the interactive encounters with trained handlers. During our visit we were able to touch and interact with animals like monkeys, owls, and even snakes, all under the careful guidance of knowledgeable staff. Experiences like this are both thrilling and educational, giving visitors a deeper appreciation for wildlife and conservation. Encounters with animals such as owls and reptiles are part of the sanctuary’s educational programmes and learning experiences for visitors. The park itself is beautifully kept, and the animals appear well cared for and healthy. The enclosures are thoughtfully arranged, with plants and natural features that create a comfortable environment for the animals while still allowing visitors to observe them respectfully. Many visitors note how clean and organized the sanctuary is, making it a relaxing place to spend the day.

Don't let the unassuming entrance fool you—Lory Park Zoo is much bigger and better than it looks from the outside! It's an absolute must-visit for families and animal enthusiasts, offering a surprisingly diverse range of magnificent animals. 🦁 The Wildlife: You'll be treated to a fantastic display of all the major big cats, including majestic tigers, leopards, lions, cheetahs, and jaguars. Beyond the cats, the park is home to impressive raptors like vultures and a variety of other beautiful birds, reptiles, and smaller creatures. The animals are well-cared for, and it's a great place to observe them up close. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Fun & Convenience: Lory Park is very family-friendly. There's a small play area where kids can burn off some energy, and a special highlight is the chance for children to enjoy feeding the rabbits—a truly hands-on experience! For parents, there are convenient shops/cafés on site, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or a drink. Plus, with plenty of sitting areas scattered throughout, you can easily take a break and rest your feet. Good to Know: Remember that entry to the park requires payment at the gate. (Check their official website for current entry fees and operating hours before your visit!) If you're looking for a rewarding day out with amazing wildlife encounters, Lory Park Zoo is a fantastic choice that delivers far more than its exterior suggests! Highly recommended!
