Welgekozen Country Lodge

What an amazing place this is. The main building and the grounds are just beautiful. The one-bedroom suite was spacious with parking just in front of it. It was a shame it was raining so I couldn't fully enjoy everything this place has to offer. The owners Betty and Bob as are so kind and hospitable. I arrived around lunchtime and they offered to make me a ham/cheese toasty which was great. Breakfast was good. The lodge is located across from a petrol station which is a bit noisy but it didn't bother me.

This is a wonderful place to stay, and the owners, Betty and Bob, are exceptionally kind and hospitable. We arrived without a reservation at 6 p.m. and were in our room within five minutes. The rooms are spacious, the breakfast is delicious, and everything is clean and cozy. We were traveling from Kruger to St Lucia and found this spot ideal for a stopover. While the location is perfect for a brief stay, the surrounding neighborhood doesn't offer much in terms of attractions, as it's somewhat underdeveloped and not particularly inviting. However, it's excellent for a quick stop.

Lovely peaceful place. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful,I do not want to get started on their beautiful garden and cleanliness. Its worth every rand you spend.

On very short notice I could make use of their conference facilities for 3 days due to their generator capacity. Piet Retief is crippled with 4 hour load shedding slots, almost 3 times a day. The owner and staff are excellent, accommodating and upbeat in their service delivery. My course attendees loved the place, catering and atmosphere. A future visit is a sure thing. Second visit, what an experience. Excellent service from all staff, homely atmosphere where everybody feels like family, fantastic room, 5 star food. What else is there to stay. This place deserves 5 stars. Conference catering once again excellent.

What a gem in the middle of despair. The food, service, staff and owners Bob & Betty are great!! Loved being here everyday. Enjoyed the tidy and beautiful gardens and sitting next to the pool in the mornings after breakfast. I can highly recommend Welgekozen for short, long or overnight stay. If you don't, you most certainly miss out on a little piece of paradise.

Lovely place, very friendly hosts. Rooms need a bit of a touch-up. But they are about to renovate the rooms so definitifely a place to recommend.

Very nice rooms. Felt at home. Breakfast was great.
