It was my first time here. The park is very open and has some benches to sit on - both under trees and under the open sky. There is a pond with ducks. The kids expected swings and I had to explain that not all parks have swings. A lot of people come to walk their dogs here so you have to watch your step to avoid stepping into some dog poop

Absolute favorite dog park and picnic spot! Pet owners are very responsible, and dogs (of all shapes and sizes) are well behaved on and off leash. There's plenty of rolling green hills, bodies of water, trees, shade, benches, and paths to enjoy. Excellent spot for dog socializing. It sees us weekly. There's also a little coffee stall and local crafts sold at the entrance of the dog park, which are both really good. However, if you try and enter the botancial gardens gate, they may not allow you in with your doggies.

I haven’t been at Emerantia for ages now and almost didn’t recognise the place. The dam with the ducks cleaned up so the dogs can swim in it and its better than ever. I used to park at the front but thankfully today found the back entrance near the Botanical Gardens entrance and this is soo much better. The little pop up coffee shop is very well equipped with cold drinks, coffee (of course), freezo, little snacks like cookies and the whole parking area just felt way safer. Dogs had a blast to room around free and for a Sunday afternoon it wasn’t crowded at all. You can still grab an ice cream next to one of the dams - a guy sells his popsicles there since ages on the weekend. Liked the fact that it was actually very clean, no trash and even though you saw doggy poo here and there: at the park entrance they even provide you with free doggy bags to take with. Will definitely be back more often.

So this specific review is for the dog park side of Emmerentia Park. Wow I was blown away, this place is clean of rubbish, but be careful of the poop landmines. There are clear walking paths and plenty of bins. The most open space for any and all breeds of dogs. Nice parking space with security guards and they even have Yoco machines for tipping. There is a massive dam that the dogs are allowed to go swimming in, brilliant for those owners of water type dogs. So there are two main entrances to the dog side of Emmerentia Park, but the one pathway leads back to the botanical garden side which is not dog friendly so being aware of the signs of the park is a really good idea. It feels really safe as no matter what time you go there are going to be people walking their dogs. Please remember to pick up your dog poop though. Edited: On Saturday morning there is a coffee chart and ladies selling handmade items like dog beds and pillows as well as oven gloves etc. The coffee chart's biscuits are a bit hard but perfect for dunking into the coffee.

Emmarentia is always a beautiful place to visit. There’s a picnic area , a dam and even a dog park section. It’s beautiful and very peaceful . It has different entrances and it’s a place I’d highly recommend especially in the afternoon to see the sunset.

All those little green strips and dog parks near Emmarentia, Linden and Greenside extension are a big part of everyday Randburg life. Late afternoons you see people in gym clothes or work shirts walking dogs, kids weaving around on scooters, and everyone catching that last bit of sun after a day indoors. They’re not huge parks, but they do the job perfectly: 20–30 minutes of moving your body and letting your brain unwind. You bump into the same dogs and owners often enough that everyone starts greeting each other, and that small familiarity makes the suburb feel more like a community.

I walk my dog here every weekend. It's a great place to slow down and discover the beauty we have right here in Joburg.
