Bergzicht Animal Hospital - Big Bay

From arriving at the Reception at the Vet the friendly and compassionate receptionist was welcoming and professional. The Vet was amazing and explained everything about the situation and process with my Little ShiTzu . My girls were calm and the weren’t anxious as I experienced at our previous Vet. Here at Bergzicht Animal Hospital they have the intention to help us as Fur baby Parents understand and how to handle our precious Fur Babies. Thank you

On 12 December 2025, our glaucoma journey with our Maltese Poodle, Ollie, began — a journey filled with fear, uncertainty, and heartache. Sadly, it ended with the incredibly difficult decision to have Ollie’s left eye removed on 6 January 2026. While nothing can make that decision easy, the compassion, care, and unwavering support we received from the team at Bergzicht made all the difference. From the moment we walked in, the kindness shown by the beautiful souls at reception, through to the dedicated nurses and exceptional vets, carried us through one of the hardest experiences we’ve faced as pet parents. You treated Ollie not just as a patient, but as a beloved family member — with gentleness, dignity, and genuine love. Your understanding hearts lightened our emotional load, your confidence and professionalism eased our fears, and the way you cared for Ollie gave us complete peace of mind that he was always safe in your hands. For that, we will be forever grateful. Thank you for walking this journey with us, for your empathy, and for the incredible work you do every single day. May you continue to touch lives — both human and furry — in the truly remarkable way that you do. 💙🐾

This is a vet I would never recommend to anyone, they show no care, terible timing, and the vet there has no idea what she is doing, no proper questioning, didnt check our pups sheets, doesnt even know what breed our dog was and dares to asume our dog is a street dog, feeding our dog food to get it to take its pill but does not even ask us what diet and food he's on, with doberman breed proper training is critical, yet she goes and give treats to calm him and gives food he is not allowed. No care at this clinic, no pasion, no worries. I am highly disappointed, I urge you, if you have power breeds, this is not the docter for them.

After a very upsetting and unprofessional experience at another veterinary practice, we were feeling stressed, worried, and helpless with our dog Lexi’s injured tail. The previous vet refused to assist us properly and left us waiting with no urgency, which only made the situation worse. Walking into Bergzicht Animal Hospital this morning was the complete opposite experience — in the best possible way. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. They took Lexi in immediately, with genuine care and professionalism. The vet was compassionate, thorough, and made sure Lexi was comfortable and attended to without delay. They fixed her up quickly, explained everything clearly, and treated us with respect and kindness. After the stressful situation we came from, Bergsicht was truly a breath of fresh air. Their team turned a horrible experience into a positive one, and I am so grateful for the way they treated Lexi — and us. Thank you, Bergsicht Animal Hospital, dr Anita, you are a absolute angel, thank you for your outstanding service, professionalism, and compassion. You have definitely gained our trust and our future business. Highly recommended!

We went to an unplanned visit to my brother, Pierre and his wife Lorraine. On our way to Blouberg I realised that our Beagle, Magnum, was with us in the car. We decided to visit anyway and have lunch at Seat in the centre. They are animal friendly. I did not take a collar or lease with us and decided to buy it at Bergzicht. The assistant who helped us told me there is no need to buy one- we can borrow one of theirs. They do not even know me or Magnum! We had a lovely time at Seat! Thank you very much again!

7 years of being a client with no regrets. The Receptionist always friendly and always willing to accommodate your fur baba. When you arrive your baby will always be very welcomed ☺️ 100% hygienic even in the day hospital the Nurses are superb👌

We are beyond grateful to Dr. May at Bergzicht Vet in Big Bay.. After months of trying to find answers for our Yorkie, Milly, who was struggling with ongoing neck pain from compression on her spinal cord, we were finally referred to Dr. May — and what a blessing that has been. While other vets couldn’t offer much relief or answers, Dr. May put together a thoughtful, holistic treatment plan that includes acupuncture, massage, and light therapy. Milly is now thriving, and we can truly see the difference in her comfort and happiness. Dr. May is not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but also deeply caring — you can feel that she genuinely wants the best for each of our pups. The front staff and grooming team are also absolutely wonderful — always warm, professional, and kind. Every visit to Bergzicht Vet is a pleasure. We can’t recommend them highly enough. Thank you, Dr. May and team, for giving our little Milly her spark back! 🐾💛
