This hospital was a wonderful surprise. ER was amazing and dealt with my trauma wound fast, and very effectively. They communicated well. Dr Refilwe has joined my list of medical super stars. The radiology department was capable, and I loved the bit of humour and humanity that I received. Even the security staff and porters were quick to assist and went out of normal duties. It is always a shock to go to a ward when coming out of ER and ICU, purely because you get used to one-on-one contact and now you must share the staff with other patients :). This is normal run of the mill, of course. I found the surgical ward staff friendly and helpful, even at night – quick to assist. I have been in a very "upper class" hospital last year and the night staff kept me waiting when I rang the bell. Extremely patient, and full of jokes when you needed to be cheered up, the ward staff is worth mentioning. The hospital itself was clean and the window often open and just having some fresh air coming through the corridors, made a huge difference to that typical hospital smell. (Just one one warning: open windows mean bees and some people are allergic.) I found the (friendly) marketing, theatre staff and physio that I worked with, as well as the surgeon, to be highly qualified. They worked with precision and a no-nonsense attitude. I loved that. Kudos to Dr David Gorry! It is not a Mediclinic Kloof where they serve you "chickpea and quinoa stew with a side of rocket", but it is not what is needed. You want care, precision and qualified staff. I had that. The only reason I do not give a 5-star review, is because the physio asked a nurse to get me crutches (he added the note in my file), and she did not. I had to borrow the physio’s crutches, and we had to drive back to return it. Thank you for helping me and taking care of me during a traumatic event. I will recommend this hospital without hesitation and I hope that future visitors will have the same experience as me.

The doctor was extremely rude and on top of that had the audacity to insult me for being in pain while jamming a tube down my ribs and mocking me while at it if I could give zero stars I would.

If i can give 0 stars I would, but I guess the 1 star can be given to emergency department. I've been at emergency 2 times this week, great service, friendly even when busy, helpfull, to be honest, emergency department got a 5 stars from me. But then I got admitted, I'm out of words. It's such a beautiful hospital, but unfortunately the staff terrible. From needles lying around, NO ABSOLUTELY NO rounds to ask how you doing, closes the door on night shift and only see them when someone calls with button, and then they are rude. I was so impressed by the emergency department, I thought it would be a great place to get better, but all I want is to go home, if I'm not better, I'll rather book myself into another hospital, but this was a nightmare. I might as well just stayed at home. Just for the sake of the drip, I stayed. Although there were always problems with the drip. The nurse will put on the drip by 8.30, but she will write 6.00 on it. There is so many medical details that I can complain about. But I'll write a letter to head of department , although I think they had to have many complaints, but just don't do anything about it.

I would just like to thank the emergency staff for their willingness to help my 2 year old son. Friendly service from the administration staff, to the nursing, straight through to the doctor. My baby had been struggling with cramps and vomiting, and they were willing to help him and give him the necessary medication to alleviate his symptoms that was treatable at home. I will highly recommend this casualty unit - especially after a HORRIBLE experience from the so called Fochville Private Hospital casualty unit, who tried to force me to have my son admitted before the doctor was even willing to come out to see him.

I really have no words, poor is all I can say.. This hospital is not the same anymore. The more you tell the nurse you can't be pregnant, cause you had a historectomy, she tell me she have to test, cause miricales do happen And then a year Later you have to go back for emergency, do x-rays nothing broken. Then the Nurse struggle 3 times to get a vaine, luckely she got one. But half of the injection wasted on the floor but you get charged for that 1 and you received half a injection. Go back 3 days later tell the Dr there is something wrong, then all of them in the emergency room discuss you what they have to do. Again without the Dr looking , gives me more pain medication to get at the pharmacy. 2 Days later I decided to see the a specialist on my own have a broken elbow, but nothing is wrong. Really pathetic hospital and service. Then They charge you R1600 for xrays, but same xrays at Pinehaven hospital R491. They overcharge the patient and they feel nothing for a patient. This Hospital is a waste of time and money
