Mafube Mountain Retreat

Absolutely spectacular! There's a 3km dust road leading to the property but we made it in our fiat 500. There's a lot of hikes on the premises that begin right at your chalet's door. Attached are pictures from the 2 hikes I did. Each individual hike will take 2,3 or 4 hours (depending on your level of physical fitness) but experienced hikers only, some have extreme inclines (and declines to return). A big thanks to Hillary and Chris for helping us feel right at home immediately.

If you "love nature" like my sweet great-nephew David and his siblings, then you have arrived at Mafube Mountain Retreat paradise! My Niece Lynné shared her favorite place on earth with me and the lovely couple, Chris and Hillary. What a gift. Thank you to Robert and Joseph for your kindness and service while staying in the Garden House - preciously sweet and the best patio for morning coffee/evening wine!

Great host, beautiful surroundings and overall very enjoyable. Would highly recommend! We stayed in the rondawel and it was bigger than what I imagined. The trails were awesome.

We had a wonderful stay at Hillary's place. She was extremely thoughtful and helpful. We had a sick child and she went through the trouble of making us a doctor's appointment and checking in on her. We had an amazing hike up the mountain to look at the dino prints. Wow!! Will definitely be back! Thanks Hillary for a great stay.

What a wonderful stay! Amazing views and walk trails suitable to all fitness levels - even my 3y old joined in on the dinosaur foot print walk. The chalet is cozy and warm inside with all the amenities you can need, comfy warm beds and blankets. Staff is friendly and helpful. The chalet is private so your not in the face of the other housing options. Highly recommend, will deffo like to visit here again! I need to finish all the walking routes! only got to do 3, SPECTACULAR views

The views are amazing! You have beautiful mountains all around. The place is clean and well taken care of! There are some free extras like the canoeing and the swing. I was with my two sons and two daughters. They loved it! We hiked up to the mountain top and saw the dinosaur prints on our way up. Its a very memorable place and experience. We all agreed that we will be back! Hillary is a wonderful host 👌🏽

What a great place. Neat, clean and very comfortable. An explores dream. Nice kept hiking routes. A priceless view. Hilary is an excellent host. Will miss her afternoon chats. Best place to explore the eastern free state from. Forget about staying in Clarens... Mafube is the place to be!
