Roodepoort SPCA

I adopted a beautiful little cat from them and she is just the most adorable and loving creature I've ever known. The people at Roodepoort SPCA take really good care of the animals and have set up places to enrich the animals' lives, not just keeping them fed and save, but as comfortable and happy as possible. I'm proud of them and the work they do.

Phoned SPCA to report two abused/neglected dogs and they where very helpful and responded quickly. I was even updated on the situation! Thank you to the staff at Roodepoort SPCA excellent work!

I am really disappointed with my experience at the Roodepoort SPCA. We trusted them with our dogs during a stressful move, and within the same day we tried to reclaim them — yet the process was made extremely difficult. Instead of assisting compassionately, we were treated with very little empathy and given conflicting information about reclaiming and procedures. The communication was poor, and we felt unheard and unsupported during an already emotional time. For an organisation meant to protect and care for animals, the lack of transparency and compassion was shocking. I sincerely hope management improves their customer service, communication, and support for owners in crisis — as the way things are handled currently does not reflect a place focused on welfare.

The most hostile place I have ever been into. Staff are unhelpful, rude and apathetic staff. You wonder if they are even interested in homing these beautiful animals. We eventually just left and found a different rescue, what a difference. We found our new baby his forever home. Do better guys, come on.

If there was an option to give no stars , that would be it . Very rude inspector . We filled in an application, when I called to enquire about the rejection reasons and why your requirements changed AFTER we spent time with the dog and paid the application fee she said she will NOT REPEAT herself to me as she had told my husband . She then told me that if I want another dog I can just come see another one , how do we then know the CLEAR requirements ? Are certain staff members just taking application fee money and not doing the thorough process? Why does someone like that decide who and what she explains to who? Disgusting behaviour from an employee . UPDATE : reported the matter to NSPCA and the manager at the specific SPCA who stated that my application fee money was " a mere amount" which they use for airtime ,stationery etc . Hmmmm .

The SPCA building is very clean. However, we were trying to look for a dog to adopt, we were not allowed into the blocks and as a result we had to look at dogs that was in dark shelters, while we were in the bright sun, through two sets of bright white fences. This made it incredibly difficult to look at the dogs, we mostly only saw silhouettes.

Roodepoort SPCA is very professional. I had to make an appointment for a specific time slot. I took my little male Chihuahua there to "meet and greet" the little tiny Min Pin Stokkies. She has a beautiful soft nature and she is perfect for my feisty and cheeky white male Chihuahua. I completer the paperwork and paid a non-refundable deposit. Now I have to wait for a home check from the SPCA and if they approve they will sterilise, chip and vaccinate her. I realised last year when I took the little Chi in when he was one of 43 Chi's taken away from back yard breeders that the need is there to adopt. Not to shop. 5 Stars for Roodepoort SPCA and their professional way they handle all the procedures.
