Amanda was lovely, kind and very helpful. Although the puppy I wanted was already adopted, the team were kind and we had a lovely chat. Thank you for all you guys do.
Very hot inside but I enjoy just to browsing arround. Was looklng for a small star for my small Chismas Tree because my grandson have a probleme with the tree. And shops dont sell one well I found one there.
I am very unhappy with my experience at Alberton SPCA. I went today looking for a puppy and found the perfect little one that I immediately fell in love with. When I made an inquiry, the receptionist told me we could set up a meet and greet and, if all went well, start the adoption process (which takes 1–2 weeks). While my partner and I were waiting outside for the meet and greet, another staff member approached us very abruptly and told us the puppy was still too young, and that we would need to wait two weeks before even starting the process. This means I would only be able to begin adoption in two weeks and then still wait another 1–2 weeks for the process — almost a month before I could adopt the puppy I connected with. We asked if we could start the process now so that everything would be ready by the time the puppy was old enough, but were told no. Instead of assisting us, it felt like they were more willing to turn us away than work with us, even though we were ready to adopt and provide a loving home. I understand there are procedures to follow, but the lack of consistency and compassion from staff left me very disappointed.
I’m deeply disappointed with my recent experience. The lady I spoke to was extremely rude, which was both shocking and unnecessary. It’s heartbreaking that we weren’t allowed to adopt a dog simply because we don’t live in the immediate Alberton area—especially since we’re not even in a different province. Adopting a puppy is never an impulsive decision; it’s a serious, thoughtful commitment to give an animal a loving home. SPCA branches should be interconnected and supportive, enabling adoptions across the country so that more animals can find the homes they deserve. Sadly, Alberton SPCA has been the only branch I’ve encountered that was this unaccommodating and unkind. The animals deserve better, and so do the people willing to give them a chance.
My son rescued a Hadida from a cat. Took it to the SPCA and wow the staff are friendly. Well done guys!
I want to express my gratitude towards the gentleman that came to our house today, to assist us with ending my boys suffering. Although it was a heartbreaking decision, we appreciate the kindness this gentleman showed and that he took his time in preparing us and our boy for the procedure. We appreciate the assistance today, from the bottom of our hearts. Although we are left broken, we know that he is no longer in pain. Thank you for the quick assistance and for the kindness shown today, we are very thankful that you did not hesitate and came immediately!
Very helpful staff and well maintained kennels. The thrift shop is magnificent for looking for odd and ends and a good place to donate your unwanted goods..
