Birds Haven Pet Shop

Not happy with this pet shop at all. My sister bought fish from them on 25/10/2025. Within 2 weeks they were dead from white spots parasite and killed their goldfish that they have had for 2 years. Very upsetting as these goldfish were thriving and they were big already and part of the family. Last week, on 6/11/2025, we bought 2 Oranda goldfish. By Saturday the 8/10/2025, they had white spot parasite and one had died. Went back to the pet shop and the fish tank where I bought the fish from was closed up conveniently. The guy told me it could be a number of things why they died. Yesterday the other one died. Now my 2 comets that were thriving before I got the new goldfish are busy dying. They did give me white spot medicine and aquarium salts, but it’s not working. They don’t want to refund me — instead they offered me 50% off when I buy new fish. I don’t want to buy anything from them ever again. Very disappointed and upsetting.

Chantel is absolutely the best! She has passion and love for animals, the best customer care one could wish for. Birds Haven is always super well stocked and clean. Never have I left the premises not smiling. Best Pet Shop in SA!

Amazing and knowledgeable staff there, but Whitney was particularly wonderful. Also an extremely well stocked shop

Very helpful.. everything I need at one shop..my bunny was neutered a while ago and I went there in search of a bit of guidance..the lady behind the till is studying to become vet..so she assured me that his fine and gave me some good advice etc..

Very easy to locate, along the main Somerset West, very close to Van Der stel train station. You can find all your pet food , pets like fish, birds, rabbits e.tc

Till and management are a little grumpy and made me feel like they're doing me a favor. General staff on the other hand were super helpful and very friendly....I'd go back if only for them.

They put their fish in terrible conditions. They but bettas with fin nipping fish and also have guppies with ick and still sell them
