I am so incredibly grateful to have found this vet clinic — truly heaven-sent! From the moment I booked the appointment, everything was seamless and stress-free. The booking process was simple, and I was able to get the earliest available slot, thanks to the team’s efficiency and understanding. Dr. Janette was an absolute angel with my dog. From the moment we walked in, she was welcoming, kind, and deeply caring. She handled my dog with such gentleness and compassion, making both of us feel at ease. She was upfront about the costs and explained everything clearly. The surgery to remove my dog’s tumour was done so perfectly — the healing process is going smoothly, and I couldn’t be more relieved. Janette even gave my dog treats and showered her with love throughout the visit. It was clear how much she genuinely cares for the animals she treats. A big shoutout also to Nicola and Sue at reception, who were both friendly, helpful, and efficient. This entire team made a tough situation so much more manageable with their professionalism and warmth.

I’ve been to Dr. Bruce at Riverside and La Lucia for the last year or two and always had acceptable experiences with my dog. He is knowledgeable and also has good bedside manner when treating dogs. Having a pedigree dog, vets know you have money and always want to do the best for your dog. Unfortunately a lot of vets see this situation to make extra money and unfortunately that’s what this review is about. On my dogs last visit for his vaccinations, Dr. Bruce suggested an extra vaccine for a condition that he says was really prevalent at the time (there is no high risk for it right now in Durban) and he suggested we get this vaccine. Being put on the spot is also not great as if we refuse it we go home and wonder should we really have accepted the vaccine. So we trusted him and let my dog take the vaccine along with his other yearly vaccines. After speaking to our breeder now we know the vaccine was totally unnecessary as there is no outbreak of any kind except the usual rabies and my dog did not need the extra vaccine in fact it is known to cause seizures in dogs and is a high risk to receive this vaccine as well. If you have an expensive dog, please we wary of vets suggesting extra things to you that your dog doesn’t need. They see this as an opportunity to make extra money from you. It’s disappointing that Dr. Bruce exhibited this behaviour as he used to be someone I respected as vet due to his credibility but now that is gone. I won’t be taking my dogs to La Lucia and Ronaldo because of him. Please dog parents be aware of them trying to make money off you. Rather reject what the vet suggests at first, go home and research if you really need the service and then decide.

Excellent treatment received. Pam and Rosanne were the most wonderful people to deal with. My puppy was sorted and is back to being his happy self. Will definitely go back there. Even Puppy school is excellent at their facility

Doctor was very thorough with my cat as well as gentle. Cat has come home acting more like himself than he was before I rushed him in Reception is very friendly and got us booked in and taken care of as soon as possible.

Dr treated my cat after a nasty cat scratch - doing much better now. Was very knowledgeable and compassionate, will definitely be returning. Reception was also super lovely and helpful.
