Garden Route Spca

I am shocked to read all the positive reviews as it is COMPLETELY opposite to my experience. Staff at the Garden Route SPCA were extremely quick to put a dog down recently - they mentioned it before they even saw her!!! They gave an old man (my Dad) bad advice and euthanised a dog recently that should NOT have been put down. Having a dry skin and poor appetite for two days is NO REASON to euthanise an animal!!! She was getting old, but alert, mobile and in otherwise good health. A lack of compassion or utter stupidity!?! I don't know. But it's been heartbreaking! I will never take an animal there and will warn others not to either. Edit: Completely irrelevant comments made from SPCA. No referral was made. Cost was not the issue and not discussed. Staff quick to euthanase a healthy dog is the issue!

Thank you for your excellent and compassionate service in rescuing a cat earlier today. Your kindness, professionalism, and quick response are appreciated. It’s reassuring to know there are people who genuinely care about animal welfare.

They do their best to help prevent cruelty to animals. Boarding and adoption facilities available as well. Will always help animals in need. Such dedicated compliment of staff. I only have admiration for them. Well trained and extremely knowledgeable. They have amazing facilities. Some of the best that I have have seen at an SPCA in SA.

My husband and I saw a post of a little puppy that was found in a field and needed a good home. We wanted to expand our little family so we decided to go visit the Spca and meet the little pup. We feel in love with her immediately and our other four legged baby got a long with her great, like they were meant to be sisters. They came the following morning to do a house check and we got the clear that we met all the requirements. We finally brought her home to her forever family that afternoon. We couldn't be happier.

I phoned this morning about a dog in lang str. Thank you very much alfonzo you were amazing. Thank you that you were there to assist us. I really appreciate what you do.

Beautifully managed, clean and pleasant surroundings for animals to wait for their forever homes. Staff are efficient, pleasant and caring.

I am turning over a new leaf at Garden Route SPCA. New management and after a meeting I am confident that we are truly blessed to have such an incredible service at our doorstep. Not an easy job and not much support. Please folk, just a simple R100 each month can help our animals.
