The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful ambiance. We had reserved a table and were greeted warmly upon arrival. The service was exceptionally polite and attentive, making us feel very welcome throughout the evening. The food was delicious and full of flavor, from the appetizers to the main course. There was also an excellent selection of wines that complemented the meal perfectly. We truly enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and had a lovely time savoring each dish. Overall, it was a delightful evening in a charming setting with great food, fine wine, and outstanding service. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.

The food was very tasty — we only ordered starters, but everything was excellent. The wine, however, was a bit too sharp for my taste. What really disappointed us was the service. We were served reluctantly, while the couple next to us — who bought six bottles of wine — received full attention and very warm treatment. When we arrived, we were told that the kitchen closes at 16:00, with an intonation that made us feel unwelcome, as if we wouldn’t have time to order anyway. The staff didn’t smile, or only forced a smile, and overall it felt as though serving us was a favour. Food 5 Service 3 Wine 4 Atmosphere 5 Unfortunately, thank you but we won’t be returning. We were served by the youngest waitress.

Highly recommended if you're serious about quality Coffee!! The latte art was a beautiful microfoam heart surrounded with the perfect caramel crema and really set the tone for a great coffee experience. The smell and taste were well balanced, smooth and not acidic at all. The microfoam texture was perfect — creamy, silky and blended beautifully when stirred. I could take a sip immediately without burning my mouth, which tells me it was made at exactly the right temperature. This is honestly the best cup currently offered in Montagu. I’m seriously impressed. Well done Team Blou @bluevines..

My fiancé and I visited BluVines for lunch this past Saturday and we were really impressed. The restaurant itself is stunning, sitting outside on their lounges and looking at the Montagu mountains is beautiful. The staff are lovely and the service is great. Lastly and most importantly, the food is divine! We shared the platter for two and it was delicious! The Chef even came to check on us and see if we were enjoying our meal - I love that! You can sense the pride in this establishment and it deserves a visit!

We had dinner here, accompanied by our welcome dog. Chicken liver starter was the best I have ever eaten, and prawn curry was sublime, enjoyed the estate reds too. Very good.

I had a very mixed experience at Blue Vines in Montagu. Earlier in the day, I stopped by the café and it was absolutely wonderful. The coffee and a blueberry crumble, were delicious, the ambiance was relaxed and charming, and the service was outstanding. I was served by a gentleman named Mark, who was incredibly welcoming and made the visit genuinely memorable. Based on that experience, I felt confident enough to book dinner at the restaurant for the same evening. Unfortunately, the dinner experience was the complete opposite. I was seated outside next to the lounge area. In total about 30 minutes passed before my drinks order to arrive, which already set a slow tone for the evening. By the time the food eventually came, it was fully dark and there was no lighting on the table to see the meal properly. I requested some form of lighting, but after waiting another 10 minutes with no assistance, I had to move myself into the lounge area just so I could see what I was eating. The food was lukewarm and I had to send it back to be reheated. Once reheated, the meal, Karoo Lamb Shank was tasty, but after finishing the meal, the service continued to be inattentive. Approximately 35 minutes passed before anyone approached to clear the plates. I was not asked how the meal was, I wasn’t offered another drink or any form of follow-up service. Another +/- 25 minutes lapsed and any desire for dessert or coffee had left the building and finally someone presented themselves, I requested the bill. I did raise my concerns with staff who apologised citing they were short staffed. The lady who brought the card machine (and initially served me) mentioned she was the manager, but she did not engage with the feedback or attempt to resolve the situation. There was no acknowledgment beyond that, and no gesture to address the experience. It was extremely disappointing, especially after such a fantastic café visit earlier in the day. Blue Vines clearly has the potential for excellence, but the dinner service fell far short of expectations. I appreciate that things can go wrong, and when they do, it is how the issue is addressed that is key to achieving a satisfactory resolving. Sadly Bluvines, you failed on all counts tonight. Experience falls short of ambiance and pricing strategy expectations.
