Olive Stone Farm and Cottages

An excellent stay. We loved the authenticity of the cottage restoration, the attention to detail and personal service from Wanda & Johann. The cottage is well equipped with the perfect blend of rustic charm and luxury amenities such as robes, quality linens, toiletries and all the mod cons you might need.The farm is a destination in itself with its shop, vegetable garden available for foraging, individual braai area, hot tubs and plunge pools in each cottage. The location is superb as it has a sense of remote living with the stunning background of the mountains but is a 2 minute walk from the Main Street with its cafes, delis, restaurants and shops. We stayed four nights but could have happily stayed a few more days. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Owners Wanda and Johan have created a haven of tranquility that offers more than just accommodation, they offer a life changing experience.||Each cottage is extremely private, boasts of the finest linen, pillows and cutlery and is extremely well equipped with everything you would need during your stay. In addition their shampoos, conditioners, room sprays and shower gels are of the highest order with their fragrance lingering for hours. ||The cottages are tastefully yet simply decorated and allows you to find your inner peace. It is only once you have stayed here that you become aware how fast paced and hectic your life is outside their walls are. ||The plunge pool provides relief from the summer heat whilst the KolKol wood fired hot tub allows for romantic evenings under the stars.||We will go back in a heartbeat, only longer next time.

It is not possible to rate this place less than 5 stars, if you do I’d really love to know what fault you found because this was an exceptional find and extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay! Words will not do it justice, the peaceful feeling of being there… here goes: Wanda is an absolutely enchanting and attentive hostess. You can see that there is so much attention to detail in the cottages and the property. The kitchen was better equipped than my long term rental apartment in Cape Town. We spent 2 delightful nights late December in Olive Cottage (the parents stayed in farm cottage across from us) which worked well. These self contained units had ample outdoor space with loungers and seating areas so if more than two you can go to each others cottage to socialise. We highly recommend their breakfast hamper, definitely take the time to use the log burner hot tub. The town of Montagu is charming and we also took a bike tour. Wanda can steer you towards all the must see attractions in the vicinity. We stayed here during our garden route tour and fell in love with it so we will find an excuse to come back!!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Farm Cottage, early November! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality—truly an excellent experience. The cottage itself was perfect for us—cozy, charming and yet spacious enough. The bathroom had both indoor and outdoor showers, The little private garden was gorgeous. We enjoyed the hot tub, the inviting dining area, and the refreshing (swimming) pool. Conveniently located in the heart of Montagu but very peaceful as on a large property. Our stay was great and the warm welcome we received from the hosts made it even better.

Owners Johan and Wanda have created something magical with Olive Stone Farm. This oasis of tranquility extends beyond your personal cottage to the farm itself. They don't just offer accommodation, they offer you an experience unlike any that I have encountered before. The privacy of each cottage, the exceptional bedding and linen, impressive cutlery, exquisite smelling soaps, room sprays and shampoo whose intoxicating smells linger for hours and the unmatched attention to detail make this an unforgettable stay. This is our first visit but definitely will not be the last.

We absolutely loved our stay at Olive Stone. The attention to detail throughout the property is remarkable, with carefully chosen furniture that feels both thoughtful and charming. The outdoor dining area across the little bridge was such a delightful touch. We also appreciated the thoughtful extras - the free-range eggs, fresh lemons, and homemade rusks in the kitchen were a real treat. The Country Road towels and luxurious linens added an extra layer of comfort and made our stay feel truly special.

A beautiful Montagu stay beyond our expectations – stunning mountain views, thoughtful design and layout and every little comfort thoughtfully provided. The Olive Stone Farm red wine was fantastic. Thank you Wanda
