We go there for the walks. It's almost exactly 2.5km all the way around, so twice is a nice 5k walk/run. There is ample parking and it feels really safe with a lot of other Walkers/Runners.
The birds are hard to see sometimes but, it's a pretty a nice place for taking walk.
It's a nice and calm place. You can walk any time during the day, there are benches to sit on the side and watch birds and water. Around 250 birds call it home including the goliath heron, African spoonbill, glossy ibis and black edret. The sanctuary is fenced to protect the bird life. The road around the pan is called The Drive.
My family and I love this area to look at the amazing mansions and getting in some valuable exercise while walking around the lake. Clean and safe would recommend.
Beautiful sanctuary for water birds with a fence all round. I missed a toilet tremendously though. I was amazed with a cute little library that operates on complete trust.
Been going there more and more to walk my babies and they love it. Obviously *some* people dont pick up after their pets (they even offer free poop bags) but people will be people and act like they are entitled or something... but overall a great place to walk/run/cycle
