Makarios Boerboele

I share the same feelings as many of the other reviewers. Sadly, my experience was very negative, and I would strongly advise people to stay away from Makarios Boerboel. The breeder refuses to accept basic scientific facts about hip dysplasia. It is a hereditary condition, and responsible breeders should screen their breeding dogs. Instead, he continues breeding pairs that clearly have serious hip problems. At four months old, my puppy went for a preventative scan, which cost about R3 000. The results showed severe hip dysplasia. Now we are facing a preventative surgery that will cost another R12 000. This has been emotionally upsetting and financially stressful, and it could likely have been avoided if proper health testing had been done on the parents. When I contacted him to explain the diagnosis, he showed no interest in listening or taking responsibility. He didn’t want to discuss it and had no intention of checking his breeding dogs. That attitude really concerned me. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this breeder. Please ask for proper health tests and hip scores before buying a puppy.

Stay away!!! This owner took my money, because he said I needed a deposit. After I paid the deposit he told me he is sorry, but his dogs are not registered anymore and he will pay back my money. It has been years and I am still waiting. I sent a letter from the court to him, but he is avoiding their calls. I will not urge anyone to do business with this man.

My 11 month old puppy just came back from the vet, massive hip dysplasia and elbow issues. We struggled with skin and tummy from day one. Awesome temperament and loving part of the family but the vet does not see a long lifespan for our buy. As our assistive and emotional support for my disabled wife I was heart broken to share the news with her today. PLEASE NOTE Makarios is not registered at WBBSA for a reason!

My husband and I decided we needed a big dog for extra security and after contacting several breeders I finally came upon Makarios Boerboele. I can honestly say this has been the most pleasant experience in buying our newest addition to our family. Johann promptly responded to my messages and answered all my questions with so much patience and kindness. His wife is also such a pleasant person as well. We were fortunate to go and fetch our Boerboel pup today, and these dogs are incredibly beautiful and so well looked after. I don't know how they can possibly remember each dogs name, but they do and that alone just shows so much love for their animals. Thank you for gifting our family with a healthy, beautiful puppy. He is already so loved. I will definitely recommend anybody who is in the market for a Boerboel to go and give them a visit. This pup is worth every penny.

Never buy any other dog than small puppy from them.i baught 18 month female that they couldnt use for breeding anymore.it never adapted to a normal family house enviroment.its like a ornament walking around and needs food

Our dog passed away after 1.5 years of age. I wish you can see the medical report of everything that was wrong with him DUE TO IN-BREEDING! Caused so much pain to our family and not to mention the dog
