Howick Pet Shop

Very clean and tidy shop and streetside, always a pleasure to walk into. Animals in store all look healthy and had clean water and food available which is absolutely fantastic. Reasonably priced feeds and accessories for a variety of pets and poultry including fish. The store staff were all very friendly, helpful and informative. I don't like pet shops but this one is not bad at all, good range of dog food and treats so will be back.

Walked into petshop. Chickens were delivered. I was shocked how these poor birds were picked up by one leg in bunches of five. How would these people feel being picked up like that. I will not support them ever again.

Great variety, friendly staff

We visited the Falls Jeweler in the Howick Pet Shop premices. We received prompt friendly reception on entering. The gentleman in the Jeweler Shop, Nicholas was very helpful and friendly. He answered all our engraving questions adequately. We will return to have the job done.

Good variety. Friendly Ringneck , always happy to chat 😊. Helpfull and knowledgeable staff. Good prices in my bird seeds. If I had a dam I would buy ALL the ducklings.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had. I walked in while the old lady at the counter was still helping a customer whom she seemed quite friendly toward. But when it was my turn, her facial expression drastically changed. I had to ask her how she was twice before she rudely asked me what I wanted. After asking her if she was okay, she began tapping the counter in a passively aggressive way, asking me if I was going to buy something or not. When I wanted to swipe for my purchase (a collar tag I was looking to purchase for my dog), she blew up, telling me I needed to first engrave it and they did not take any card purchases under 25 rand (the price of the tag) and ordered me to engrave it at her husbands engraving store which was in a corner of her shop. I could only walk out, wondering if she was okay.

I went to buy a fish last week Monday on the 5th September, I released him into my tank and later that day realised they had sold me a fish that was infected with white spot that they assured me was not infected as I have had bad experiences with buying fish from them before with them lasting no longer than 2 weeks. The next day the infection had spread to my 3 show guppy’s resulting in all 3 dying, they are worth up to R300 a pair. Today as I returned to the shop I tried to politely speak to them about it, they quickly became defensive when I showed them the tank I had bought it from was completely infected with white spot, the continued to deny it was their fault and became increasingly rude until I just ended up leaving the shop. I would not recommend buying fish from here as their tanks are poor quality and fish will more than likely die soon after purchasing.
