Should you need to visit this outstanding practice for whatever reason I cannot recommend them more highly. In the past 20 plus years this is only my third visit - thankfully - but each time I am reminded of the professionalism, kindness and understanding that everyone here offers. Our Max Dog visited because our local (also excellent) practice thought it might be Glaucoma, sadly it was a little more than that (cancer) and the only way forward was to remove the tumour (and Max's right eye). Dr Paul Burger performed the surgery - as a friend of my extended family there was a comfort in knowing that he was known to us but outside of that his knowledge, experience and cool manner of explaining next steps and hopeful outcome (which it was) made me feel that Max was in outstanding hands. We are beyond impressed with Max's recovery (and long life ahead) and have deep gratitude for this entire group of professional human beings. Thank you Paul and the whole of Johannesburg Animal Eye Hospital. Much love and many many thanks Alex, Skye and Max (dog)
Hope when the Dr's who were involved with the operations to Lolla who had lost her sight and can now run free like a young dog. When you go to sleep at night and know that you, do and did a life changing job, (if one can call such a Miracle a job) for her and US. Thankyou.
Our little Sasha went blind in a very short time and I was on the mission to give him back the love and loyalty he is shown to us by having the cataract surgery done to improve his eyesight. The premise is easily to find via Google map. Huge parking and a friendly outside waiting area welcomes you. Had to fill in the covid compliance forms and after that, Bianca, the all-round receptionist, admin, appointment booking and answering patiently emails, telephone calls and people's questions in the reception area will guide you through the first steps. Paul, one of the vets, examined Sasha and explained in detail everything (got a free lesson in biology- eyes). He took time to answer all questions and concerns and even offered to take a call from my daughter in Germany to answer her questions too. Sadly, Sasha is a high risk candidate and we opted against the procedure which would him more traumatize than doing good. He is now on medication and close supervision with the deterioration of his eyes. But we will do everything to make his little life as happy as possible. Made my house Sasha Sasha proof and wrapped with bubble wrap all sharp corners and so on. The clinic is super clean, friendly and offers ample secure parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everything is very spacious and open, ideal for blind dogs. While you wait there is coffee/ cappuccino/ tea available. The vets were extremely gentle and put a great deal in explaining the situation and I think it's done with each little ir big patient. The outside waiting area is spacious too and has a lapa available to sit in shade and protected off the sun. The premise has camera surveillance which is kind of normal for sunny wild Africa. Out of 10 stars I would give 10 🦮🐾🐱 there is also some cool fashion available for blind dogs which is alerting other people that your dog is blind.
Definitely the best hands you can place your pets in. Our little pup has diabetes and needed cataract surgery. Due to her condition, this was already a big task. All the veterinarians know what they are doing, but I want to especially say thank you to Dr Goodhead. He did an amazing job with the surgery and even though we thought it was already too late, our dog seems comfortable and happy again. They are extremely helpful and thorough. I would highly recommend their services. Thank you!
Very professional, friendly. Nice that they don't charge a fee for a follow up when it's soon after the first visit. More expensive than your normal vet, but it's a specialist hospital, so similar to visiting specialist vs GP for humans. Update: Dr Goodhead and the team really are excellent. Took my cat 3 months, but they got her there. Her graft is now healed and I'm so glad I opted for it rather than removing the eye.
I live in pta and I wish they did general health because I'd drive everytime to use them. Absolutely amazing. Firstly, it was am emergency eye issue and I was seen immediately, they were so friendly, the Vet explained everything and gave me options for treatment, calmed me down because I was crying and stressed beyond belief, worked great with my pup who was in so much pain, and here is the best thing... they didnt milk me for all my money! They were quick and efficient. I was so used to the other vets that I didnt know what I was missing, and now it will be hard for any other vet to top this. I'm so grateful for their help. I reccomend 100%.
Miracle workers! Dr Goodhead and his team are absolutely amazing. You won't find better care for your pets. Our Ava had a cataract surgery on one eye and the other eye removed. Through both surgeries and consultations all the staff were so warm and welcoming. Friendly reception, and such compassionate and caring doctors. We cannot thank Dr Goodhead and his team enough....they've given Ava back her happy life.
