Best Veterinary Experience Ever! As the father to 7 dogs, 7 cats and 18 horses, I am pleased to share this special experience with you. I had personally never used Ikhala Vet before as I live in Hogsback and we have our own local vets in the area. In early May 2023 late on a Sunday afternoon, one of my dogs (Shakti) was mauled in an horrific dog fight. I honestly thought she would not make the night, her puncture wounds were so bad, there was blood everywhere and her lung was protruding from her body, I have never seen anything like this. We spent the next hours with her, saying our goodbye's and praying for an easy passage over the rainbow, however our little fighter of a girl was not going to give up. The next morning I rushed Shakti to Ikhala Vet (a 2 hour drive from home). They were expecting us and as I drove in the driveway, there doors swung open and 3 kind young professionals ran out to assist me with getting her to theatre. Dr Lynn was on duty that day and was of great help and very pragmatic. We chatted about the cost implications of trying to save Shakti and the slim chances of her survival, however the Dr said that she saw a sparkle in Shakti's eye and a willingness to survive this ordeal. I could see immediately that Shakti was in good, caring and professional hands and I gave the go ahead for her surgery. Her first op was a success and it seemed that Shakti was going to pull through. She was in ICU for 5 days and one of the staff slept at the practise to wake up every 3 hours to monitor her. She ended up staying at Ikhala for a month and became a part of the Ikhala family. Everyone of the staff treated her like she was their own, the princess she is, thay made her feel at home and loved. They told me she was an exceptional case and that they learnt a lot from her. I am so proud of my girl, however truly grateful for Dr Emily and Dr Lynn and their amazing team for the care, compassion, love and professionalism that thay offered and gave. Besides the great care, thay did everything they could to keep the cost down for the months stay and at all times kept me in the loop with clear communication. I thank the team from Ikhala with all my heart for what they did for Shakti - You guys really are amazing.

Vet en vetenary personnel very friendly and helpful. Vet explained the whole medical procedure before hand and afterwards again explained what actually transpired during surgery, the healing process and meds given to assist with Biscuit's recovery. I would highly recommend, if you are looking for reliable compassionate service then there is no better. The staff are knowledgeable and honestly willing to go that extra mile to assist you. Truly the best vet in town.

This is the most amazing vet practice. Our dog ate poison meat, the vet met us us at the door within 10 minutes of our call (it was nearly eight at night) and within a minute had a cather in the leg and was administering antidotes. To cut a long story short, she spent much of the night with him and he survived. We found out later that the poison was one that was fatal if treatment was not administered in the first half hour.
