Wagon Wheel Country Lodge

A beautiful little gem of a stop to get a peaceful rest after a long trip from Gauteng, Wagon Wheel have comfortable beds, enough bedding, very neat and clean rooms, with aircon which is a life saver in the heat. Great sized swimming pool, lots of little kitties around, and ducks that rest next to the small waterfall feature. Their kitchen and bar open at around six out of season, their staff are lovely and friendly, their food is tasty. We love this place and have visited them four times and counting. Will definitely visit them again. Thank you for your awesome service.

Adequate room. Clean, neat. TV, kettle, aircon, hot water. Food I thecrestaurant is bland, overcooked but edible. Good service.

Unfortunately, this stay did not feel like good value for money. While the room itself was nice and clean, the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. We specifically booked this room for the king-size bed, expecting a proper night’s rest after a full day of travelling — especially at a rate of R1650. The quality of the mattress simply did not match the price point. The swimming pool also did not match the pictures shown online, which was disappointing, and we decided not to swim after seeing it. Having a restaurant on the property was convenient, but the food was quite underwhelming. Using bottled basting on Karoo lamb chops and lamb shank did not feel appropriate for the standard one would expect, and the dishes didn’t justify the pricing. There was also no water in the morning so we couldn't shower before hitting the road again. Overall, the experience fell short of expectations, and there are several areas that need improvement to offer guests true value for the rate charged.

Rooms are nice and spacious, I had a room that could sleep 5 people for myself! Had a kettle and t.v. The room was clean and smelled nice. The shower and toilet area is nice as big too, very clean. Our group that passed through booked in for the night, some went to the bar. (restaurant and bar area looks fancy) there's a kiddies play area and lovely pool! The place is definitely well looked after. thank you for the nice stay!

Great location for a quick pit stop with breathtaking sunset views! The pizza was delicious, the drink selection was impressive, and the pool facilities were beautiful. The staff—especially the bartender and waiters—were friendly and attentive. Plus, the cutest cats wandering around made the experience even better!

I have given 5 stars for its place as a 3 star establishment. It was perfect. The rooms were immaculate, the service exceptionally friendly and the courtyard with the kittens and view of the starry sky made us think we were on holiday already.

Worst accommodation ever. The photos are deceiving. This place is a total dive! If you want to stop somewhere on the way to Cape Town and don’t want a good nights rest this is the place for you. I ended up sleeping in my car on the property as the rooms are way too hot and crowded for 5 people! The lights in the passages are on all night. The rooms are light all night. The manager of the so called lodge could not care. He told me that we chose an economy class room. We booked what we saw on the website. What a joke. What a lie. What a dump. If we knew we would’ve booked somewhere else. This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star!
