Spice Route Destination

We ate at the pizzeria and it was a fantastic tastebud experience. Our hostess was the best. She was bubbly and funny but also very knowledgeable of the menu. We had a great time together. You have to visit the Spice Route. There is soooo much on offer including fabulous views.

My partner and I went here for Valentine's Day and what a treat! Despite the windy which caused us not to stay too long, I must say we really enjoyed the chocolate tasting at The Chocolate Room even though it was over within a few minutes. There is a little bit of everything for everyone: ice-cream tasting, beer tasting, wine tasting, chocolate tasting and very kid friendly. La Grapperia Restaurant served us the most delicious seafood pizza and our waitress was so warm and bubbly. We will definitely be back hopefully when the wind dies down a bit. Definitely a gem ♥️

The gin tasting was really enjoyable and something different, which I appreciated. The beer tasting was also good and well presented. The chocolate tasting was nice, but I expected a bit more compared to the other experiences. Overall, it was a pleasant visit and definitely worth experiencing, especially for the tastings.

Very lovely experience. Just gets expensive very quickly. Highly recommend the ice cream tasting. Chocolate tasting seems to have been downgraded from what it was before. Beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

So we wandered into Spice Route on a sunny but windy Paarl afternoon — kind of a choose-your-own-adventure with beer/wine, snacks and sights. First stop was the beer tasting, and guys: I may have found my spirit animal in the Rekordlig 5x tasting flight — it was so fruitily tasty I briefly considered starting a support group for people who drank one too many "mango-raspberry-sunshine" brews. The rest of the crew did the standard beer tasting and actually liked the proper craft bitterness to their sips, so yes, this place genuinely does beer you can enjoy. The pizzas at the pizzeria were legit good — not the kind that make you break down crying into molten cheese, but definitely the kind that has you eyeing someone else’s slice and quietly plotting a swap. Some might say it is a bit thin, but honestly I enjoyed how light it was. They did not skim on toppings though. We did not get to do the charcuterie, chocolate nor the ice cream tastings, though they did look divine, but the sorbet at the chocolate shop was a perfect end to a beautiful day. Spice route is definitely the place you can easily spend the whole day at just grazing through tastings as it has that laid back farm meets tasting energy. Loved every moment.

This place has a beautiful scenic view. The ice cream tasting was heavenly. Friendly staff angels. The Chocolate room has a wide range of chocolates to pick from. The cappuccino was lovely paired with the breakfast wrap.
