Umhlanga Scuba

We had an amazing time at Umhlanga Scuba. We did two deep boat dives of 29,4m depth. Saw very interesting sea life. The whole team was welcoming, friendly and great to have a laugh with during the surface intervals. Very professional. Would recommend to anyone wanting to dive in Durban.

The day after landing in Durban we walked along the Golden Mile. My friend who was certified suggested I take the course and had researched Umhlanga Scuba. Coming halfway 'round the world we were welcomed into the shop, given an overview of the course, and I was hooked! A few days after studying an completing the online course it was off to the pool for initial coursework and then the diving pools with the sea life! My instructors were incredibly generous and patient. Integrating what I had learned online into practice took a moment, but what an incredible result! My classrooms were pools filled with sea life and witnessed by groups of school children visiting the aquarium. Their waves and smiles were added encouragement along with my instructors. Vin and Kevin, I can't thank you enough for stewarding me into the world of scuba! And celebrating with bunny chow at the end was brilliant! Thank you for your great skill, care, and facilitation!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the most incredible experience with Umhlanga Scuba! We managed to secure a last-minute spot to scuba dive inside the aquarium tank at uShaka Marine World, and it was truly unforgettable. The tank is huge and home to an amazing variety of fish — including sharks — and diving past the main aquarium window with all the spectators watching was such a unique and thrilling experience. The instructor was fantastic: knowledgeable, patient, and made us feel totally at ease throughout the dive. This is an absolute must-do for any diver visiting Durban, whether experienced or trying something truly special for the first time!

Thank you to Vin and Kevin for being so accommodating for helping me along to get my open water certification! Im glad I chose to dive with Umhlanga Scuba and have left feeling so much more confident in the water and on the theory. Amazing stuff guys! Thank you!

This was really one of the best experiences i have had in a long while. Our diving instructor was really patient and made us enjoy every moment in the water.. The staff helping us were also really nice and helped us as quick as possible during the dives. The experience was great, Never to forget!

Umhlanga Scuba is professional, safe and excellent with kids. Vinayak Maharaj, Chris and the team were exceptional in how they educated, prepped and managed the divers. My kids really enjoyed the experience to the point that they are now keen on the sport and leqrning more about the marine world and life. I completed my Advanced Dive certificate with uMhlanga Scuba in December '23. I was very impressed by the shop and teaching provided. I felt important to those working there throughout the training. Planning was clear but there's a laid back friendly atmosphere to the place that makes you feel at home! I've never been afraid to walk away from a dive shop that doesn't seem professional, I have standards, and Vin and his team meet and surpassed those standards. Vin even took me for lunch in the Private Marine Club. I was tavelling solo for a week in Durban, I felt I was with friends for the time. The people are what made gaining my Advanced accreditation such a great experience, I'll be thankful to them for the rest of my diving days and beyond.
