Wits Anglo American Digital Dome

Beautiful 😍 experience. Went to watch Aista documentary with my former manager Dr Claire Flanagan. It was great experience going down memory lane. Dr. Moumita Aich was so welcoming. Thanks I will be bringing my family for to experience the Digital Dome 😊

What an amazing experience. I half expected it to be empty, but to my surprise, the auditorium was almost full. Young and old were entertained for over an hour. Ooohs and Aaaghs echoed from onlookers as we delved into outer space. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone who loves stars, constellations and space. 110/100. Loved every moment. 👍🏽❤️❤️❤️❤️

I’ve always loved planetariums, and visiting the Wits Anglo American Digital Dome for the first time was an absolute treat. It was the perfect way to spend a Friday night—more affordable than going to the movies, and far more immersive. The team was fantastic, and the recent upgrades truly elevated the experience. I’ll definitely be going back!

After months of trying to get a booking, we finally got tickets! It was a pleasant experience, chairs are comfortable. People sitting in front of you can't recline their chairs until they lay on your lap!😉👍 The speakers were loud enough as well. The only thing was that I expected to see a bit more of other galaxies or some pictures from the James Webb space telescope, nonetheless it was a good experience.

I had a very disappointing experience at the Wits Dome. A staff member with glasses who assisted us was extremely rude and dismissive, which completely ruined the visit. Management should seriously address staff training and customer service standards. I will not be returning.

A nice outing with loved ones. Tickets go fast, so I recommend to book in advance. The venue is clean, the seats are comfortable and reclinable. The visuals of the stars are beautiful, and it looks quite real. I haven't been to a film showing, though I know it's only a portion of the dome and not a 360° view like the star shows. The only gripe I have is that there is the same ad of how's the dome was built in collaboration with Wits and Anglo American which takes about 5 minutes. Then the shows are roughly 30 minutes.

Great experience for adults and kids. The shows are really affordable. The chairs lean quite far back so you can comfortably look up into the digital dome. Parking is close to the venue and well lit in the evenings. The dome is also close to one of the university’s entrances, and easy to access.
