Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

Had the most amazing time at Sanbona, super accommodating. The room was perfect. The food was perfect. The staff are some of the most friendly and caring out of anywhere I’ve stayed. As for the wildlife tour it’s self, it was incredible. We were very fortunate to have had Nicole as our guide. Extremely friendly and welcoming and put in a huge amount of effort in trying to make sure we saw all the animals we could. When we did see an animal she had an encyclopaedias worth of knowledge and was able to answer all of our questions. She even knew all of the back stories of the animals and the reserve. Really made the whole experience 100x better than it already was. The amount of effort into this place really shows and it’s 100% worth every penny to stay. We hope to visit again in the future for a much longer stay.

From the moment we arrived at Sanbona, the service was nothing short of outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay unforgettable. They anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, and every request—big or small—was handled with such care and professionalism. Our room was an absolute dream. Spacious, beautifully designed, and spotless, it perfectly blended luxury with comfort. The bed was incredibly cozy, the bathroom felt like a private spa, and the views from our terrace were breathtaking—waking up to the stillness of nature each morning was a highlight in itself. Sanbona’s location is truly spectacular. Nestled deep within the reserve, it offers a rare sense of seclusion and tranquility. The amenities were equally impressive: exceptional dining, knowledgeable guides, stunning game drives, and a serene pool area that made relaxing effortless. What I loved most was the sense of peace and authenticity—every part of the experience felt thoughtful and immersive. If I had to choose something I liked least, it would simply be that our stay felt far too short! We could have easily spent several more days soaking in the beauty and hospitality. Sanbona exceeded every expectation. I can’t recommend it highly enough and can’t wait to return!

We visited Sanbona for 4 nights in August 2024, staying at Gondwana Family Lodge, with a 20 month old in tow. Our stay was exceptional with the staff all going the extra mile for our family. Game viewing was less prolific than other safaris that we have been on, but the sightings we did have were of an exceptionally high quality - including seeing a cheetah up close on foot. We can't recommend enough.

What a fabulous stay we had in Tilney Manor with friends - it went beyond our expectations😀👍 The rooms were luxurious with everything catered for - and a personalised water bottle was a lovely touch. The staff were amazing as was all the food😋😋. Jaques our guide was so knowledgeable on each game drive and also the evening we did the stargazing. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay. I have never experienced a vacation like this before – right in the middle of nowhere, yet so perfect. From the warm welcome at the Main Gate to the refreshing towels upon arrival at the lodge, everything was flawless. The friendliness of the managers, our guide Marco who gave us unforgettable moments, and the attentiveness of all the staff such as Ricardo, Nelly, and many others made our stay truly special. Every wish was taken care of with such thoughtfulness. This is a holiday that will remain in our hearts forever.

Sanbona was the perfect ending to our honeymoon—peaceful, unforgettable, and absolutely magical. The team was so welcoming and friendly, we truly felt at home. They even provided halal food for us and made sure we were taken care of at every moment. Our guide Janri was amazing—professional, kind, and knowledgeable. Thanks to him, we encountered lots of wildlife, including the Big Five, and learned so much along the way. The lodge managers were just as warm and made every detail feel special. We’re leaving today, but a piece of our hearts is still at Sanbona. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxury, authentic safari experience.
