Dube Private Game Reserve

Visited for our December camping trip and had a great time. The campground has paved sites and clean restroom facilities. The waterslides and pool were the highlights, making everyone feel like kids again. They offer an indoor heated pool, trampoline, putt-putt, and a laundromat. There's also a shop stocked with essentials like sleeping mats, chairs, and wagons, perfect if you forget something. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. However, it's not a 5-star experience because when we arrived at 10:00, the previous campers were still packing up—they were supposed to be done by 10:00. It took an hour and a half before we could access our site. The trash bin was overflowing when the previous campers left, and it was not emptied during our stay, despite numerous other visitors.

The journey to Dube Private Game Reserve sets the tone for what follows — a harsh, corrugated gravel road that shakes both vehicle and expectation. While there are no potholes, the uneven surface makes travel uncomfortable for most vehicles and especially unsuitable for standard (non-4x4) caravans.||The ablution blocks are clean but far from well maintained. Staff clearly uphold basic hygiene standards, yet the infrastructure tells another story and long-term neglect give the facilities a tired look. They are sanitary but poorly kept.||Campsites are cramped, with little room for privacy or comfort. Maintenance is minimal, and the dimensions listed on the resort’s website are misleading — my site was noticeably smaller than the advertised size, raising concerns about transparency.||Leisure facilities are in serious decline. The toilets and showers at the indoor swimming pool are in poor condition, and the pool itself is overdue for refurbishment. Murky water quality appears inconsistently maintained, and the area feels run down and neglected. The trampolines are a safety hazard, with collapsing sides that make them unsafe for children.||Although pool rules are clearly displayed, no staff are present to enforce them. Electrical boxes around the campsites are left open and exposed — an unacceptable safety hazard that requires urgent attention.||On a positive note, the resort’s shop is excellent: clean, well-stocked, and efficient. It offers quality essentials and fresh goods, and the staff are professional and organized. It’s the only part of Dube that feels properly managed.||Unfortunately, customer service falls short. During an incident that required assistance, a man identifying himself as Johan Viljoen attended to the matter. His exact role was unclear — possibly a manager or senior staff member — but his dismissive attitude and poor handling of the situation left a lasting negative impression. It reflected poorly on the resort’s overall service. Some basic hospitality and management training would make a big difference.|The atmosphere is lively and family-oriented, typical of peak holiday periods. Yet beneath that surface energy lies a facility struggling with structural neglect and inconsistent management.||Verdict:|Dube Private Game Reserve has potential but fails to deliver on nearly every operational front. Despite clean ablutions and a well-run shop, the lack of maintenance, safety risks, and misleading site information make it impossible to recommend. In its current state, a return visit is out of the question.

Excellent camping experience. Perfect for everyone with or without kids. Perfect facility during rainy days. No matter the weather it still are a perfect place to spend a couple of days away from the city life.

We were unfortunately disappointed with our stay. We were initially charged for two children instead of one. The child fee was later refunded after follow-up. However, we did not receive a refund for the accommodation after leaving due to the beds being extremely uncomfortable and causing severe back pain. There was no one available at the office on the first evening when we tried to return the key, and communication regarding our complaint was delayed. We were informed that the beds are "Cloud 9" beds and that no refund would be provided. While the resort itself may suit some guests, our experience regarding the handling of our complaint and refund request left us dissatisfied.

Dube is really a place where you can rest no noises no cars. You can walk around freely and the best of all is no need just to drive any were for something you forgot at home everything is all under one roof. Leave you car at the camp sight do a wildlife walk.

Really wish I took More Pictures. But it was quiet, clean and our home had a swimming pool, braai area, fridge, stove and everything needed for a perfect weekend with family. each of us had our own entrance to a private room, bathroom with shower and small kitchen. best part of all, we where 10 people and never ran out of hot water.

What a pleasant surprise for a quick getaway. The amenities are great, so much to do for young and old. The indoor pools is an absolute plus. All the facilities for campers are top and then there is the abundance of wildlife to see when you take a leisurely drive through the bush. Well done to the owners, this is truly a beautiful place.
