We went for an early morning hike. We planned to go for a quick 5km but ended up taking a longer trail just because it was so peaceful. Loads of people on the shorter tracks so if you are looking to break away definitely would recommend the longer trails. Most of the trail is nice and quiet, but at times you can hear the hustle and bustle from the highway. Still, the hike offers great views and its fairly beginner friendly on the 5km and 7km trail. Had a great time and would go again.

Visited Wolvespruit for a hike mid December 2025. The trail it self was really nice, not too difficult and hilly. The trails are well marked, and very clean and well kept. The views were spectacular. Take an extra pair of socks and shoes, as there is a part at the end to cross a little flowing river, about ankle height, tall people can just step over it, but us short people need to step in the water to get across. Only downer for me were the dogs, as I'm extremely afraid of dogs, encountered a few dogs on a leash while on the trail, which was very stressful for me, but other than that enjoyed it alot. There is a lovely cafe, and bike shop. The bathrooms are absolutely clean and pleasant to use.

Wolwespruit Bike and Trail Park in Erasmuskloof, Pretoria, is a fantastic hidden gem for mountain biking and trail enthusiasts right in the heart of the city. This compact, fully fenced park packs about 23 km of hand-crafted singletrack into a surprisingly varied landscape, making excellent use of its hilly topography with rewarding climbs, flowing descents, thrilling drops, jumps, river crossings, and bushy sections where small streams add a refreshing natural touch. The trails cater well to intermediate riders—steep gradients and twisty paths demand focus, yet they're approachable and fun, with options for shorter loops if you're building skills or just want a quick session. It's a perfect spot to practice techniques, build fitness, and enjoy adrenaline-pumping rides in a safe, secure environment. The park also accommodates trail running and walking, adding versatility for families or mixed groups. Entry is affordable, the atmosphere is welcoming and community-oriented, and events like the annual funduro bring extra excitement. It gets busy on weekends, so early mornings are ideal for quieter rides. Highly recommended for locals or visitors seeking quality trails without leaving the urban area—Wolwespruit delivers consistent thrills and great value. A solid 5-star experience for Gauteng riders!

I love this trail! It is so well looked after and has various levels of difficulty for all ages and fitness levels. A hub of activity for cyclists and trail runners. The cyclists have a seperate path, so hikers and cyclists are not side by side. The foliage is lush and green, proving beautiful photo opportunities. The cost per person entering the hiking trails is R45 which provides a decent 4/5km hike. You can sit and enjoy a hot or cold beverage after at one of the 3 different Restaurants, whilst the kids expel more energy on the various playground options. An enjoyable early morning nature start .

To close of my leave i decided to do visit Wolwespruit, and they disappoint. I did the Green and Blue trails and loved it. Technical at places but not undoable if you only have a minor technical skills. I didnt try the more advanced flow tracks on the blue trail as I am just to afraid I might hurt myself, and older bones takes longer to heal😉😁... I am seriously considering applying for the Wolwespruit Membership because I will definitely visit them again, God willing of course. I would recommend the Wolwespruit MTB trails to anyone who likes their trails a little different. The staff was very helpful where you pay for your day pass, and the ladies at the Trek store was extemely friendly and can crack a joke or two....and the food was amazing. I really enjoyed the outing to Wolwespruit and hope to return soon.😉👍🚴‍♂️

Beautifully maintained yet somewhat narrow lanes for neat routes laid out for walking, running and mountain bikes (MTBs) - though the challenge with these narrow lanes is that there is hardly any space for the different users to pass each other. Specifically dangerous is the presence of MTBs on the same route, as the bikers might land up right behind you - at high speed and virtually with no audible warning (the thick surrounding forest effectively muffles most approaching traffic sound). The restaurant area is very popular, with many enjoying a hearty breakfast after their activities.
