Love my local vet. Open ALL day on week days. Dont feel rushed. Explained everything thoroughly and my Bella got well looked after. Baldwin has been there as an assistant for as long as I can remember. Highly recommended docs.
Leo was so helpful with an injured baby bird that I found outside my flat - he was about to close up when I arrived and he was so willing to go back into the clinic and take care of the little guy - seeing his attentiveness to an animal in need, albeit at the last minute, is enough for me to choose his clinic to help my own pets in the future. Thank you Leo 🙏🏼
I had a very disappointing experience at Ivy Road Veterinary Clinic. I felt that I was overcharged and that the treatment provided did not address my pet’s condition correctly. Unfortunately, my concerns were not handled with much empathy or professionalism during my visit, which left me quite upset. This review reflects my personal experience and opinion — I hope it encourages the clinic to improve communication and care for future clients.
I took my dog to Ivy Road Veterinary Clinic after she collapsed and couldn’t get up. We rushed her there in panic because it was the closest vet at the time. They told us they could help her, but instead they kept her there for almost week, alone in a cage with drips, without being able to diagnose the problem, with multiple tests being done amounting to nearly R10 000. On the Sunday, my husband went to visit her and she sadly passed away on his lap. Even while it was clear she was dying as her breathing had become very laboured, they somehow managed to run "blood tests" for a few thousand rand in those few hours. Afterwards, I called another vet and explained the signs she had been showing, and that vet immediately told me it was a common disease that no dog can survive. Meaning Ivy Road probably already knew, but instead of telling us the truth, they gave us false hope while racking up bills. I wanted to take her home, but was told if I do so she would die. They robbed us of the chance to take her home and let her spend her last days surrounded by love, not alone in a cold cage. They robbed us of time with her and stole a lot of money in the process. I will forever be haunted by the way she spent her last few days. I will never recommend Ivy Road Veterinary Clinic.
Dr Trent has saved 2 of my cats lives! I feel so comfortable leaving my animals there - his knowledge and expertise is second to none, he is a realist and doesn’t just tell you what you want to hear to make money, Dr Leo is also fantastic and they are a brilliant team. We are patients for life! Even when I bring my cat if she is acting strange he always just laughs and never makes me feel like an overprotective cat mum 🤣 Thank you so much guys
Very good, efficient, kind and professional service. Vet account was also very reasonable and affordable. Give them a try for your furry 4 legged friends!
I have never been more insulted than I have at this vet. I've been a customer since 2020! They have lost the plot. No compassion, gentleness or sensitivity & money minded. Chaotic practise & very badly managed. 1. My precious 18 year old cat who was in severe pain was very badly handled by Dr. Leo. He literally pulled her out the cage when I asked how to administer a tablet. He was rough with her previously making her bleed when he cut her nails. He lacked compassion or any sort of sensitivity when he told me "her kidneys were totally finished and gone" & I need to euthanize her & further tried to convince me then put me on a guilt trip. He ran me down & made jokes about me when I asked questions about what options I have & what else can be done. Leo has been very abrupt & disrespectful with me on 3 other occassions. 2. I thought dealing with Dr. Trent would be better but he just got Leo to treat my pet yet I discussed her options & costs with Trent. He told me it would be R1500 to just over R2000 for her to stay probably 1 night for a 24 hour drip depending on what treatment she needs. Leo kept her for 2 nights & my bill was much higher than what was discussed. When I queried it I was treated with impatience, judgement & rudeness by the receptionist tanya & Leo. Tanya was overwhelmed with a room full of angry waiting people & took out her frustrations on me. They refused to call Trent so I could finalise payment. They all behave like they are so superior & above everyone else. I can't believe they deal with animals that require alot of compassion & gentleness. They told me to pay R2000 & I should come back another day. Their system incorrectly stated that I owe them a few cents from a previous invoice yet I have been paying the account at each & every visit with cash but their system could not show I paid the full R2000 now & had settled other invoices. So the next time they could magically tell me I owe more money but I thought I settled everything. I really took offense as I have been settling all payments on the same day of the visits. They made it seem like I was being petty & I insisted tanya make comment that I paid R2000 in cash. Their system does not work. She made me stand aside while she helped the other people and I waited 50 min to take my very sick cat home! This was the worst part! Its not my fault they only allowed me to collect my child in the last hour before they closed on saturday or that she came back from leave to a chaotic practice. 3. I called on monday to discuss the ordeal I had on saturday. Trent defended all their bad behavior, lack of compassion, rudeness from the receptionist, rough handling of my pet, the way the practise is run and their inaccurate system. He even blamed me saying that I am "playing the victim"!! And I never listed to him and I keep questioning him. I'm not an expert in animal medicine hence I am coming to him for his services & paying for it in cash & fully but he was more annoyed about me asking for information on my child's treatment options & that he has to repeat himself than focusing on the pathetic service I received & their inefficient systems. He said I was difficult to treat as I don't listen and change the facts later! Total misconception and assumptions made about me! As a doctor you need more compassion and be willing to repeat yourself especially to patients who are in shock of hearing they have to put their pet down! He kept saying I never heard him yet I followed his treatment plan to the T! But it all became an issue when I queried the money part. They are truly about the money. He ran me down for 5 min nonstop until I told him my beloved child of over 18 years passed away. He agreed to reduce the invoice in question but I still had to come in & pay R132! They were well aware that I am unemployed for over a year. They are heartless and misjudged me and what type of person I am. During this deep loss and grief I had to deal with these relentless cruel people. They make me never want to get another pet again if I have to deal with vets like this!
