Today we travelled a round trip of approx. 100kms and I must say we were very disappointed with the treatment we received at The Dogs Trust. There was nobody at the reception to meet us. After hanging around for about 15mins we eventually called a guy who was sitting under a tree. He eventually phoned someone else. After 10mins or so he sauntered over. After explaining what type of dog we were looking for he took us to a few enclosures. A few young dogs attracted our attention. He could not answer any questions when asked about age or breed and was plainly disinterested. Our experience was very different to the impression we gained from following The Dogs Trust Facebook page. Sadly The Dogs Trust is more interested in their public image than re homing the poor dogs in their care. Naturally they have blocked me on Facebook and went further to accuse us, my wife and I of racism. This I find totally unacceptable. On Facebook the lady mentioned that she had taken her first weekend off since the beginning of December and the kennel manager was occupied with a rescue on the R511. This I found totally acceptable. To thereafter ridicule & accuse us of racism via messenger is totally unacceptable. I was then told that they operate on a appointment basis. Why then have business hours on your website. I feel deeply sorry for the poor dogs in their care waiting patiently for a forever loving home.
On 18 Oct 🐾 we adopted our baby girl My name is Eve I came to my new home last night to join my forever family after their heartbreak. I weigh 1.5kg Am 8 weeks old Mommy & Daddy adopted me from The Dogs Trust ! Thank you Lee, Kristen, Liane, Janine (you know her as Nutella but it was only fitting to get new name with her new home) for your kind hearts and a seemless experience adopting our baby girl. Your friendliness & love for what you do shines through. I can honestly Highly recommend adopting from them.
Had such a good experience! They were so patient and accommodating when we weren’t sure which doggy we wanted. The gentleman walked us around the place and answered all of our questions (and very well too)! We are in the midst of adopting a little cutie and they have been so helpful so far, so would definitely recommend if you’re looking to adopt a fur baby 🥰
The person showed around was super friendly and the dogs look healthy!
Such a clean wonderful yard with caring people. We adopted a puppy from them. Affordable and minimal bureaucracy!
