Baakensrug Holiday Farm

First of all I’d like to take this time and thank Roland and his team for allowing us the opportunity to come on this journey on this great farm and to enjoy an incredible experience. We had a fantastic time in the field getting what we have come for and leaving with even more by even having our animals processed and ready packaged if you want, great fire place and dinning area, clean rooms and beautiful ambiance all around. I’ve been planning to get my Kudu Bull for a very long time but one day is one day lol. The drive from the main road from Nelspoort into the farm is about 20 to 30min of gravel road Before you get to the lodge, just follow the GPS it’s pretty accurate. Roland ill add the other star when I get my Kudu Bull 😆 Great place🤝

Having arrived there, I realised that these apartments that form part of a woking Angora farm are primarily aimed at hunting groups. For this they probably earn 5 stars. The accommodation itself is top notch although our room had no air conditioning. The communal lounge and kitchen area are very well appointed encouraging interaction between guests. Calling their little shop that sells meat, wine, biltong, preserves and such a Deli is perhaps a little bit of a stretch but it is an enjoyable experience none the less. Each room has its own mobile braai but it would have been nice if wood was supplied instead of us having to wait for the " Deli" to open and buy wood. We took the liberty to take a short hike on the property and the harshness and beauty of the landscape was clear to see. Having just left the tar road on our way to the guest house we initially had the distinct feeling of having taken a "Wrong Turn". The dirt road should not be taken lightly and the 16 or so kilometres of it played havoc with our luggage inside my double cab’s canopy that upon arrival I realised was not dust tight…. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we saw a part of our country close up that otherwise goes unnoticed by the casual and mostly hurried passer by.

Roland guested me during my expedition by bicycle. It was a real pleasure to stay in their lodge for a night. Its really beautiful and peaceful. It is in a farm with a lot of animals. And there is all equipments you need

Absolutely great place. Accommodation 5 star. Loved the farm live and safety.

What a horrible experience! Don’t stay there! The owner stuck us in 2 rooms apparently attached to their own house, looking nothing like the photos on their website! The place is in a state of neglect, old and musty. There was no water to shower and when they got the water going by the next morning the shower was blocked. They don’t even deserve a one star rating. Don’t spoil your trip by staying over at Baakensrug!

Poor and unprofessional communication and management of bookings. Expect last minute cancellations.

Very neat and comfort place. Enjoyed our stay while driving back from holiday to make a half way stop. Service was excellent especially the welcoming with a freshly baked farm bread. A must is trying their shop's lamb meat to braai for the evening.
