I really appreciate everything that the SPCA do! They are the voice for the voiceless and do so much amazing work on our community for all of the helpless animals. However... My husband and I are in the process of adopting the sweetest Collie X, but man is it a mission! We've paid the holding fee, passed the meet and greet and passed the home inspection. (All by the afternoon of Friday the 9th of Jan.) We were told on the 9th that we would be contacted shortly with next steps, pick-up etc. Monday afternoon comes, we phone again to follow-up and got told that the adoption is in progress and the lady doing the vaccinations and microchipping will contact us shortly. (According to the Kennel Form, the doggie is already sterilized) Tuesday comes, and we call the SPCA again to follow-up and get told that the doggie is booked for sterilization on Friday the 16th. (Even though the doggie is already sterilized) When I mention that the kennel form states that the doggie is already sterilized, it turns out that they still need to verify that she is actually sterilized as this information came from a third party. (Which I completely understand why they need to verify this information as her previous owners who surrendered her to the SPCA could have lied) According to the lady I spoke to, we will be able to pick the doggy up on Friday Afternoon) I'm not sure how the sterilization will be verified (I'm assuming an ultrasound). I know the SPCA is swamped with work (and thankfully lots of adoptions) However, assuming the doggie is sterilized and confirmed sterilized, the ultrasound should only take maybe 10/20minutes. The vaccine and microchip should also take maybe 10/20 minutes, meaning in less than an hour, this poor doggie could be ready to go home to her new home with a loving family. I fully understand that the SPCA has a process that needs to be followed and that the process is there for a very important and valid reason. However, the execution of the process (in my opinion) just takes way too long and wastes so much of the SPCA's resources. Spending maybe an hour to verify a doggie is sterilized and vaccinate and microchip her, she could then go to her new loving home (where she would be sleeping inside the house on a couch or a bed). Now, the poor doggie has to sit in a lonely kennel outside for an entire week where the food that she is given for that week could be given to another doggie and the kennel could be used for another doggie who is in the unfortunate position of needing the SPCA's help. Regardless of the excruciating teeth pulling process, I am so excited to pick up our newest family member and bring her home! I just wish I didn't have to wait so long! See you Friday SPCA!

I went there with my kids excited about possible adoption after losing our 13year old boerbull from cancer. The reception we received from the young white lady was so cold even my daughter didn’t even want to adopt any dog anymore. I even asked politely the lady if she was ok but she was still cold. It’s a shame that one or two dogs would have had a loving family. We’re not coming back there anymore. Maybe we got received by a wrong person, maybe just maybe.

So clean and welcoming. The staff is efficient and friendly. I just went to make some donations, but I highly recommend adopting from SPCA. There are cats welcoming you at the entrance, which is cute and it's very easy to make donations.

A wonderful experience. Cages are clean, doggies (and cats) are clean. So many amazing dogs you can adopt - have a look, and you will definitely take one home to adopt. 🏡

called for injection of my puppy and unfortunately they only do on Tuesday's and Thurdays between 2-3pm. This is the time when most if not all people are at work and unable to come during those days nevermind those times.

Gwen and the staff were so caring and supportive when we had to take our beloved dog to be put to sleep last week. Explained the whole process, discussed all possible options and were there with lots of tissues and consoling words and a kind hand when I was in floods of tears. Thank you for being so caring, it is truly appreciated.
