Checkmart Umkomaas

Wide variety of choices at good prices but gets busy. Parking is limited and customers mostly park on the street. Kudos to this store for their willingness to open during the 2021 looting/riots. They proved that they are there for the community and their customers come first. Staff worked tirelessly to allow customers in under controlled conditions to get basics. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly. Very impressed. They have lots of specials. There is a fresh meat section and a fresh produce department. There's incense and kitchenware as well

The staff are friendly and helpful..however there is nothing much on the shelves and mostly rather overpriced sadly.. specially since there is a Spar directly across the road...

Checkmart has hardly anything on their shelves anymore. I used to do majority of my monthly shop their, besides meat, but now I hardly go their as I am disappointed every time. Very sad.

Have only been there once so cannot comment too much on service and produce. Very well stocked store and not too busy. Worth a visit. We have not sampled the fresh meat, dairy or bakery. However, overall very clean, organised and friendly.

This shop is geared mainly for locals who do bulk shopping. The prices are competitive but expect large volumes of people at month end as they line up. The staff are well organised and professional. Parking is limited although side road parking is available. The resident parking attendants are self appointed and not affiliated with the shop. Be alert when walking in the area outside the shop.

I will never buy anything from Checkmart Umkomaas again, they are pathetic, I bought nappies and lost the slip, I asked them to return the nappies (sealed packs) for a bigger size and they just say sorry we can't reprint your slip so you can't exchange the nappies... Seriously!! Not even trying to assist!

It's OK, not impressed as such. Haven't seen a bakery, butchery section is a joke, well stocked up on groceries, there's a spar opposite it, I honestly rather go there because I must do half my shopping at checkmart and the rest in spar... Nobrainer.
