SUPERSPAR Umkomaas

As usual... I bought something from Spar... and it has got issues. NOW because I NEVER keep my receipts, they won't exchange it. Yet it has their name and the date on it. Would the owner feed this to his family? There are constant problems with their fresh produce, their meat and more. There's been times I get there late and tired, but meat and veg, get home and it's off. Nowhere else to buy food. When I speak to the manager and took the tomatoes back, he NEVER replaced them and said thanks for telling us! What the hell! Would the owner and the managers eat this. Or does the owner not know what the staff is ordering. What about the pensioners thay can't get back and have little money? Date today is 19 Dec 2024. Now I am sitting with biltong with white fur on it. This doesn't happen at other Spars I've been to.

Spar2U requires serious updating for this branch of Spar. Orders take forever to arrive. When they do arrive, they are in good condition and the driver is friendly. One of my nine orders arrived with the wrong item and missing an item. They offer WhatsApp ordering for delivery and still very long wait beyond 2 hours. Visiting in store, deli has improved and product is fresh with great quality. Staff are friendly now, they weren't friendly six months ago. Management seem to want to improve business processes and are consistently trying to do better. This is good.

Great Spar with a lovely bakery and deli counter. Fresh meat and produce and great specials on Market Days. Nicely laid out, but the queues get awfully long and checkout cashiers don't always cope. There's a Tops on-site. Parking is limited outside the busy centre, but there is an upstairs parking area. Ps. Check out some imported sweets and products, as well as the 'unknown' brands - there are some surprisingly good ones for less than branded items. Don't forget Pensioners' Day on Tuesday. Market Day is normally Wednesday. Gets very busy on Sassa collection dates. Also, use your Spar Rewards card - there's always someone winning free shopping or something. And there's always a treat for Pensioners!

First the staff...they are great...always pleasant and helpful..the store is clean and neat.. however...the fresh produce is very limited... the music is overwhelmingly loud especially for people like me with hearing problems...makes it impossible to hear what anyone says to me

The isles are terrible. There are always people packing the shelves and talking so loudly. Could barely get to the deodorant section today. I have to wait 10-15 minutes A ROLL. The staff look at you and ignore you. To get anything done for service, you have to raise your voice and shout at them. They treat you like they are doing you a favour. The only good thing about this store is the fruit weighing packer. He is the star of the shop. He needs a raise and needs a better opportunity. Friendliest, helpful person. The only person in the spar who is good. The rest of the staff come to work with an aggressively drawn-on eyebrow and act like it's painful to serve you. The last two times I went to this shop, I slipped on "liquids" on the floor. The staff stood watching and didn't clean up. The ladies working at the till do not greet. The express lane was empty. I had 7 items and she would not serve me. She shouted at my poor 58-year-old mother. We ended up splitting the products between each other ( I got 4 and she took 3) , but in the end she rolled her eyes at us and served us both. This is the only store in my area and it is unbelievable. If I could go to another, I would take the fruit stocker man with me.

Worst spar I have ever seen. Absolutely filthy inside and out . We ordered "slap chips" . We watched the lady who helped us wipe the sweat from her forehead and then put that same hand in our food bag 🤢. Also ordered rolls from the bakery . While waiting we saw a roach running over the cheese bread. 🤢. No use complaining. Just get brushed off. "Will look into that" only response we got from the manager. I won't ever go back to this Spar. Need a health inspector there to check things out.

Was lovely to see an improvement. The Iles I find is still a bit dark, and the layout can be improved, with maybe lower shelving, allowing more light. You certainly need to take a tour first to familiarize where to find products, as a first time visitor . Fruit and vegetables were well displayed, bananas not the best quality. The Fresh food outlet, is well laid out, easy to view and to order. Staff are friendly and eager to assist. Store entrance could be more better. Found that although there was a staff member ready with hand spray, you did have the wipes first, then a self help bottle of sanitizer, then the staff member on the opposite side with the sanitizer bottle, whom was communicating across the entrance, letting you walk through without being sanitized, making it confusing as to having your hands sanitized by him, or self help. Which I and many detest. May just be worth observing for a better customer experience. Not knocking the staff member, just my observation.
