Shell
Shell - Gcuwa
Shell in Gcuwa provides a convenient stop for travellers along the Eastern Cape's scenic routes. As a known service station, it caters to those seeking refreshments and essential supplies. The location is perceived as a welcome alternative, often considered safer and cleaner than other options in the region.
While the facility itself offers practicality, improvements in customer service at the on-site coffee counter would significantly enhance the overall experience. Addressing concerns about attentiveness and order accuracy is vital to ensure a consistently positive impression, supporting the local community and the broader tourism landscape. It is a critical point for those traveling to the Kei River region.

Definitely replacing Shell Ultra Umthatha when you’re headed into the Kei. Safer Cleaner Less congested. If you’re heading on a Wild Coast holiday think about a Wild Coast Homestay Hut 🛖 for amazing catered accommodation in amazing settings Support local And if you’ve read this far please give this review a 👍🏻🤙👌
With a country with such a high unemployment rate I cannot understand how you would hire such a rude lady working at the coffee section..in all my years travelling through South Africa she was the rudest person I met. Not a nice way to treat tourists. She didn't even greet me or smile, just looked straight at me with something close to contempt when i approached the counter. i asked for a "black coffee and if I could put the milk in myself as i only like a small amount" she had her back turned to me and then when I got the coffee it was more like a latte.. I said "that's why i asked you if I could put it in myself, that's too much" she said i "wasnt allowed put in the milk" and when i questioned "why?" she turned her back to me and spoke in hushed tones to her colleague and then came back with an espresso. Eventually she got the manager without saying a word, the manager was very nice and helpful. It's not that difficult to smile and say hello to customers and actually LISTEN to their requests. If she had listened first time there would have been no issue, or just ask me if you're unsure what I want, but it's like she had already decided to be difficult. She should NOT be working in the service industry.
LaVazza coffee we stopped to get three cups but the barista sold us weak water. We only discovered on the road. The other woman asked her why and she waved her to the back. What a pity. Tourism up to now in beautiful eastern cape has been wonderful with beautiful friendly people. Why did she do that to us ? So unnecessary.
Great stop but i received the worst service from a lady called Azola, she was so rude. I asked her to clean my window and she refused. After i was done paying she said bye without cleaning my window. I was so confused and angry because i as traveling far and at night with a dirty window.
