Sadly all puppies passed away from Parvo virus outbreak. Quit small spca. Staff are extremely professional and friendly. 5 star for all those involved in caring for furry babies at SPCA

Amazing and caring staff. Had to put down my doggie today. I was a emotional train wreck and their compassion was outstanding. And the gents that sent her home was amazing. I have immense gratitude toward them for their kindness and compassion.

DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME I’d give this place half a star if it were possible. The entire staff should work at a Correctional Services Institution and not a place that is intended to be beaming with love and compassion. 2024 we tried adopting two Yorkie brothers and we were told this wasn’t possible as this is not permissible , yet in 2025 this rule has suddenly changed. A week ago we tried to view puppies and we were turned away and advised to book an appointment which we did for a week later. Little consideration was given to the fact that we had travelled an hour thirty minutes to get there. Today we filled out a form and the reception lady went through it and was happy, then called over a man to take us to the Kennels . Then the reception lady said we needed to arrange a meet and greet and we then arranged for our Pop to be brought over , en route an inspector comes out to tell us the application was denied and Pam refused to come out to shed light on why ? Eventually Pam came out and was extremely unreasonable and refused logical thinking. She kept reiterating that based on the following: moderate grooming , sleeping outside ( 80 square M covered patio, with dog beds and kennel )and having a separate home business with low foot traffic ( stand-alone cottage ) are clear signs of an unloving home. This doesn’t take into consideration that we already own a Rescue whose thriving . Nor does it consider the other questions on the form - wanting a dog who needs attention, daily exercise and lots of love . If we can afford private vet services, what is grooming ? We made it clear we would make the needed adjustments and let the new Pup sleep inside but Pam was as rigid as a rock . We simply request a home inspection because how does the above justify being BANNED from ever adopting ? Her insinuations were unfounded and simply borderline racist . Why would we not take measures to protect the Pup ? Proof is in the pudding - our current babe has not even been in harms way . Lastly the clauses for DENIAL should be on the form in black and white . No where on the form did it state any reasons for immediate denial and this is unethical. Pam claimed to operate according to guidelines from the Council , sadly all her rules are simply in her mind . She then said emailing was pointless as she is the highest authority. Pam is unethical and thumb sucks policy . Her entires Staff is MISERABLE. Pam needs to retire ASAP, she has run the place to the ground.

Went there on Saturday at 11H .. was turned away along with other people , even if the website says they close at 12H only.. Wanted to adopt and make a donation .. Guess this place isn't as destitute as they would like people to believe.. what a disgrace !!.. there were actually many people / employees visible inside the facility 😡😡

Imagine this. We filled out a form, stating that our dog will have accommodation outside our house (in an enclosed patio with a dog kennel, couch and dog beds) And then we went to pick out a dog. We found our dream dog. We were told that to continue the adoption process, we must have a meet and greet with our current dog (also and SPCA rescue). While our dog is enroute, we are told by Ms.Pam the general manager, that we do not qualify because we specified the dog will live outdoors and because of specifying that, we will never qualify to own a dog. Although we went through and passed a SPCA home inspection less than a year ago. Two inspectors stood with her as we requested reconsideration via a home inspection and she refused. Mind you, she decided this only after we had picked out a purebred dog. When I asked if every dog in the SPCA requires living indoors she said yes. I asked specifically about a husky and she said yes. We offered to let the dog sleep indoors. She said since we already indicated that it would sleep outside we cannot change that. Poorly handled Ms.Pam. The rest of the staff was lovely and understanding. It was only Pam who treated us badly. She even blamed the staff and threatened to discipline them for telling us we qualified. It was more sad than anything because she is standing in the way of a lovely dog going to a loving home.

Tried to adopt a cat. This lady (I should say the General) interrogated us like we were criminals and asked that everyone coming in our house must come to Midrand to meet the cat first. Two hours away. Why? It’s my cat. I have had cats my whole life. No wonder SPCA Midrand is stuck with all these animals. They have more red tape than adopting a child. Ridiculous. Meanwhile, cats are waiting in the cages.
