Absolutely adore this gem of a charity shop. managed to score a full work wardrobe for under R1000 and I adore it. it's the best place for books and decor as well, I got a childhood favourite on the last visit. only downside would have to be that it gets extremely full.

Always find a few odd treasures here. Cheap prices for second hand goods and proceeds go towards helping fund Tears Animal Rescue. You can often find some interesting paintings and books if you spend the time to search. You will need some time to explore and go through the library of books within the premises.

Parking is a little difficult but this shop has everything and accepts everything. All towards an amazing cause.

I’ve been shopping at TEARS Tokai for years, mainly books (I’m an avid reader) and pet items (my daughter fosters kittens waiting for a forever home). All staff have always been friendly and helpful, they greet you by name and welcome you back. I could give Sean a list of books I’m looking for and he would sms me when they arrive, whether a week or 3 months later. Sepheura was the other stand out staff member. Sadly there seems to have been a major change in staff, Sean has left and I haven’t seen any of the other familiar faces on my recent visits, and along with that a major drop in the standard of customer service and a major increase in pricing. On my last visit there was only one lady in the shop, she avoided eye contact and didn’t even greet. I asked her the price for an unpriced cat carrier and she said she would have to ask her mom. Came back, R300. Asked if that’s best price, had to go ask her mom again, R250. (her mom is hidden in an enclosed cubicle in the back of the shop). Food bowls for the kittens were marked R30. I went up the road to Mambo’s and bought brand new cat carrier for R240 and food bowls for R20. Sadly TEARS Tokia is no longer a pleasant shopping experience.

The 2 staff members that really stood out was Amanda and Siphaura. They went above and beyond. I feel security is lacking, there should be an a tive security guard walking around. Not enough active cameras in quiet corners. I saw a few suspicious people lurking in corners.
