Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch

Such sweet doggies, I would suggest if anyone has free time while in the area, to drop off a bag of dog food and spend time with the kind little fury hearts!

I love visiting AWSS. You give your time but gain so much more love from the animals. You can take them for a walk and spoil them with the beautiful vineyards surrounding the kennels. You can play with them or just be in their presence. In the past, I could bath a new comer to get rid of ticks and fleas. I promise you that it will make their day and yours too. Gaan gee 'n bietjie liefde! Jy kry dit ook, altyd, terug. BTW... I adopted from them too and the process was a breeze! Adopt, don't shop 😉❤️

You can immediately see that these shelter animals are loved and very well cared for. But they still do not deserve to be here. If you can, adopt, don't shop. We are overjoyed with our two rescue doggies. They have changed our lives. And happily, we changed theirs.

We visited to photograph some of AWSS's dogs to help with homing them. We were very impressed by the facility and the staff. The dogs are absolutely amazing. We entered their camps as complete strangers carrying strange equipment but left as friends... whatever traumas the dogs had suffered they were good natured, affectionate and willing to trust these new people in their spaces almost immediately. If anyone reading this is serious about adopting a dog, please visit AWSS, there are so many extraordinary dogs there who need a great home. Here are Yuri, Fifi, Lola, William, Lex and Jack 😍...

Great place. Animals have good space to play in and the cats are wonderful. Volunteers are always welcomed to give the animals a little break from waiting for their forever homes. If you plan on spending time with the puppies, wear thick pants and avoid laces and drawstrings, they're all good biters 😅

Excellent organisation who absolutely put animals first. Staff are very helpful and sympathetic. If you have some money lying around, definitely make a donation to this worthy cause!

We had a lovely time visiting the shelter. We were made to feel very welcome and got the best introduction to all the dogs there by Sally. We found a puppy who we thought might be the one and with the help of Alec, giving us all the ins and outs about the specific animal as well as how he would integrate into our lives we knew that he was the one. Getting in depth information of behaviours, instincts and all you need to know before adopting from Alec was invaluable. We were really impressed by the knowledge and experience they had and being able to communicate it in a way that we could fully know what to expect. It has been such a great help to have this knowledge and not feel surprised or get upset when things get difficult to manage. We really appreciate all their help and support(thank you so much for the food) in helping us find our best dog! And he is the best dog😁 Highly recommended if you are looking to adopt.
