In a world where customer centricity becomes more important year after year, I can confidently say that this has been the best experience my family has had with a veterinary clinic. Cape Companions Veterinary Clinic shows the most professional and caring approach, giving updates during procedures all the way through following up after services have been rendered. No other clinic or practitioners have been as customer centric, friendly and professional, which is why I cannot recommend the team and the clinic enough! This gem is located on Klein Joostenberg farm.
I am happy to say that contrary to what other veterinarians in Durbanville advised us, and warned us, against an operation that our beloved Suzi had to undergo the team at Cape Companions exceeded all our expectations Cum Laude when they sorted the problem out! Suzi is her old self again and as happy as she can be! Well done!
Receptionist was extremely nice. That is where the positive part of this review ends. The Dr we saw didn't do a skin scrape on my dog as requested. Immediately recommended cytopoint. Ignored my worries about his ears and assumed the cytopoint would fix it. That was the first visit. 3 weeks in and my dog has a hectic ear infection and his skin is looking worse than when I took him in for the first appointment. The Dr said he smelled yeasty. Gave me antibiotics for the ears and said its a bacterial infection (checked under microscope or something like that which was on the invoice). Google the antibiotics she gave and it is for yeast infections. She charged me for the ear things even though it was ignored during the first appointment when I mentioned it. His ears were filled with gunk that I had to dish out of his ear that morning of the second appointment. He was then also on apoquel and oral antibiotics. So double antibiotics... I was given a big pamphlet thing of information on skin issues as I was on my way out. The information in this pamphlet spoke of Drs needing to do look at the skin cells under the microscope before diagnosing, which I asked for in the form of a skin scrape, which was never done. My dog lost 2/2.5 kgs in 3 weeks on the cytopoint. I tried to explain that he has a weird smell when I touch him. She basically ignored my comment and stated later throughout the appointment that he smelled yeasty. From there I have taken it into my own hands to do even more research into yeast dermatitis and have managed to keep his skin looking great. Nobody will even say he has a skin issue by looking at him. The vets in the Cape do not listen to clientelle and do not even pretend to listen. This vet is known as a reputable vet for the bullies and yet she failed my dog and after spending 5k there in a month she wants to tell me (on my way out after the second and last appointment) doing blood work and possibly getting a vaccine for whatever he is reacting to is very expensive and will cost about 5k.... Really? It is disappointing that it is so difficult to find a vet that listens to a person, is honest and doesn't just try to empty my wallet. Edit to add: This was my personal experience with this practice. Edit 2/1/26: I did reach out on the 24th of November and cancelled my appointment. This was your practices response, copied and pasted from whatsapp- Good afternoon we hope you are well🤗 We are sorry you feel that way . We hope all the best for Casper along his journey to recovery✨
Oh my gosh!! THE BEST!! Nothing else, THE BEST!! Thorough, affordable, friendly, helpful, patient.... just, THE BEST!! There's various vets in the area I reside, yet I take the drive from Bellville to them. LOVE ♡
Fantastic experience having our dogs’ dental cleanings done at CCVC! The best vet I’ve been to, the staff are fantastic and really care about your animals’ comfort and wellbeing.
Very lovely staff and amazing Vets. Would 100% recommend. They helped diagnose my pup who's been to countless vets who could not diagnose him at all. We now visit once a month for his injections and he is fit and healthy eversince. Lovely area to stroll around aswell.
They’re really great. The receptionist is an angel. Dr Rous is patient and personable. Definitely returning.
