What a Hidden gem! A perfect stop when driving CT to Pretoria and home again. Next time we'll pre-order a braai pack or supper. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet and the air conditioner was a life saver on the sweltering summer nights. The garden a beautiful respite from the road. We will definitely be staying again.
We arranged to arrive at a certain time, but had some issues on the road and I informed them throughout of our arrival time. Upon arrival in 33 degrees heat, it would have been nice if they at least opened some widows for the room to get some air / cool down. The receptionist could be friendlier, especially there where guests have travelled the whole day, a friendly greeting would go a long way. Also, the rooms we were in (closest to the reception, were some of the most expensive ones, but it does not even have some type of covering in the front, so it is extremely hot. Maybe think about some type of patio/roof. like all the other units? The area around the braais in front of our room were not clean, trash lying around. Lastly, maybe consider making some fenced little camps on your lovely big grounds where one can let the doggys walk without a leash. This would be awesome for them since they are cooped up in a car the whole day. The whole place in very neat and tidy. Nice big room, clean and tidy. Just think about offering some smaller conveniences, like cold water upon arrival, cooler rooms and friendlier staff, then you have a gem!!
We stayed at Travalia in December while travelling through to Cape Town. The room was clean, comfortable, and well set up for an overnight stop. Check-in was easy, the property felt safe, and we had a quiet, restful night. We also loved the Padstal shop with its amazing selection of local treats and interesting items to buy. It is a great option for breaking a long journey and we would gladly stay here again.
We were forced due to an emergency medical issue to skip our overnight accommodation in Richmond and to proceed to Travalia in the hope to get some place to stay with them. When phoning them, the lady at reception was extremely helpful and immediately offered us a place to stay - which was really appreciated as it as late on a Friday night. The place is really very good and upgraded and we can definitely recommend it to stay over.
I highly recommend Travalia Guest Farm for a sleepover, especially if you need a good night’s rest before continuing your journey the next day. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent—well prepared and beautifully presented. They also have a lovely farm store where you can buy food, snacks, and very nice accessories. This is my second time staying with them, and once again it was a great experience. I would highly recommend Travalia Guest Farm to anyone.
Our experience was overall very good. We ordered our braai ingredients before hand and even the braaibroodjies was made. Staff came and lit our fire so all we had to do was braai everything for a very good supper in the Karoo. Very well done, thank you!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Travalia has become our overnight stop of choice. The accommodation is neat, spotless, and has everything you need for a comfortable night’s rest. The gardens are beautifully maintained and add a lovely touch of tranquility. About 700 meters before the cottages, you’ll find the Travalia farmstall — a real gem! It offers a wide variety of gifts, homemade jams, preserves, baked goods, and other delicious treats. We also had breakfast there, which was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend Travalia for anyone looking for a convenient, clean, and welcoming stopover.
