SUPERSPAR Gateway Hermanus

Gateway Spar really needs an upgrade. Compared to both Checkers we have here, I rather shop there. Spar was always my go to place but not anymore. Toooo many bergies hanging around there and don't feel safe.

About a month ago I visited your store for the first time 6 months and was shocked by how the store looked, dirty and unkempt.While standing in a queue at the till, it was extremely bus a supervisor came the to queue and told us the till was now closed. We had to then rejoin another queue after queuing for sometime. No apology, no you are the last in queue as other supermarkets do. I decided after vowing never to set foot in your store to give it a chance today well never again. Yes my mistake but it was not advertised as a condition, the shelf lable only says as seen on TV UHT Milk is R89.99 nothing stated anywhere that you need a Spar Card. Go to other Chains if a loyalty card is needed for the special, the cashier advises you and even asks the people in the queue if you do not have to see if someone can assist. In fact at OK the signed me up immediately when I said I did have a card and received the benefit immediately. The apathy from the cashier, who when I asked why I did not get the special said, I asked if you have card and you did not. It even seemed as if someone in the queue was willing to assist but alas the transaction was complete. I mentioned to it to management on the way out and got a very apathetic response you need a card. I still regret not informing the cashier to give me my money back. The ironey is that I had to stop in Kleinmond, the store is like a breath of fresh air, friendly staff and a bright and clean store. My third time there since unfortunate the incident a month ago. Kleinmond definately has me as customer. Even Eastcliff Kwik Spar is delight in comparisson to Gateway Superspar.

It was our local grocer many years back, but the overall standard is no longer on par. The shop needs an overall.

Lovely Gateway. Quiet a few shop's to shop at. Public toilet clean and neat..Lovely koi fish 🐟 pond..

Shop has a good variety on most basic groceries. Service was just about good but could be better. I was just impressed by the fact that there wasn't long queues, warm take aways were freshly made today, fresh fruits and vegetables. But the parking lot outside is dirty that's an area that needs to be looked at. I give 4 stars

My sincere gratitude goes to this place's management and the staff that prepares the delicious and ever fresh food daily and their excellent service. They are kind, patient and loving. This store is my go to place whenever I need food for me and my kids as I'm still sorting out accommodation and have nowhere to cook but we always have a healthy and warm meal every every evening. Thank you very much Spar gateway.

Bit of a weird supermarket. Good veg section, but damn..their meat looks nasty. Lighting is odd as well, so you feel strange walking about in there.. I dunno, is it just me? I've come to enjoy shopping here. Love the veg dept and the meat is actually better than I thought at first visit. They also stock some interesting stuff when you walk around and have a closer look. Their baguette has become my favourite supermarket baguette....
