Absolute Pets Canterbury Crossing

I always buy my pet food from Absolute Pets Northcliff Square and I love the staff there, so I thought I would take our 6 month old pup to Canterbury Crossing to the groomer....I should have checked the reviews before making an appointment. Silly me. We agreed to get the Summer Cut for our pup who is a border collie mix (we got him from the SPCA). Little did I know that one is not supposed to shave border collies....I found out from my colleague after sharing before and after pics. So, yes, I should know this, but I would expect a pet groomer to know better as I have never owned a collie before!! Surely the groomer should know this?? I also asked for his ears to be cleaned....they were cleaned at the top but not further in, so his ears are still dirty. Will definitely not be returning to this store for grooming.

This place has a very "homely" feeling. The staff are incredibly welcoming and warm towards our furry friends but also towards us pet parents. One staff member, in particular, has epitomised this culture - Khumo (I may be messing up the spelling). Also special shout out to Karabo and Tumelo. The environment is amazing - thank you guys.

Cancelled my grooming appointments for my two dogs based on the negative reviews here. You cannot be a spa and get even one negative feedback about the treatment of animals. Food variety and shopping experience was positive though.

It is with "Absolute" horror and disappointment that I write this review. I have been using this store for a couple times to groom my 2 miniature toy Pomeranians. Today I arrived early to collect my pets based on my estimate from times gone by to collect them from a grooming appointment. I was shocked to watch the groomer being so rough brushing my 1.8kg dog that it was cowering away from her and squealing in pain from the rough manner the groomer was aggressively tugging on its coat. I walked into the grooming parlor and confronted the groomer and even pointed out that my pets are tiny and further to this, I always specify to "be gentle" as they are small animals. I told the the groomer and clerk at the counter that today was the very last time that I will use their services or support this brand of stores going forward. It is absolutely unacceptable to treat any animal so cruelly and I will not even bother entertaining any attempt to remedy the relationship. It's is like agreeing to stay in an abusive relationship. Utter stupidity!!! To the store owner and franchise, if you have any surveillance of your grooming parlor with video and audio, I hope that you will take the right action and train your staff to respect peoples pets. To many pet owners, their pets are family and this needs to be communicated to your staff way better, especially when we entrust our "fur babies" into your care. I hope you get this right for your business... A paying customer lost for good, because of this...

Clearly asked the groomer NOT to cut my dogs back paw. She has only one back leg so her nails are worn down because of it. She still goes ahead and cuts my dog and broke her nail. It’s hanging off!!! Disgusted by the service!!!

I always receive exceptional service at Absolute Pets. The staff is not only kind and considerate but also have a great sense of humor that makes every visit enjoyable. My dogs are always happy and come out of the parlor looking better than ever. A special mention to Jabu, who is incredibly mindful and ensures I'm kept in the loop throughout the grooming process. I highly recommend Absolute Pets to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet parlor that also offers a fantastic selection of pet supplies. This place truly goes above and beyond!
