I've been bringing my GSD Cross to Pampered Paws every 3-4 months for a full groom since her adoption 5 years ago, and it's always been a good experience. They're very gentle with her and patient with her nervousness and reactivity. She comes back clean, smooth, soft, no crazy shedding anymore, and 70% dry but she's got a double coat so I can't complain😅
I am very disappointed with my repeated experiences at Pampered Paws, across both Claremont and Sea Point branches. I was first unhappy with Claremont (due to booking issues) and thought I’d give Sea Point a try. On multiple occasions, my bookings have been mishandled at both. I have arrived for confirmed appointments only to be told there was no booking, or that only one of my two dogs had been booked instead of both. This has happened more than once, despite clear confirmation beforehand. More concerning are the grooming incidents themselves. On a previous visit, one of my dogs was nicked during shaving and I was not informed. I raised this calmly and explained that while I understand accidents can happen, transparency is essential so that I can properly monitor my dog. I was assured this would be addressed. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit in January, I arrived to collect my dogs only to find one was still not finished, despite being told they were done. Once home, I discovered that one dog’s ear had been cut severely, with bleeding and even a small portion missing. His paw pad had also been cut during trimming, none of which was disclosed to me. I would far rather wait longer for my dogs to be groomed carefully than be told they are ready and then rushed through the process, resulting in preventable injuries. I wish I could have included photographs for clarity, but my dog was so distressed afterwards that he would not allow me near his ears or paws. At this point, the issue goes beyond poor organisation and communication and raises serious concerns about transparency and duty of care. I have given multiple chances and raised concerns respectfully, yet seen no improvement. Sadly, I cannot recommend Pampered Paws based on my experiences.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here are two pictures and a video! One of the groomers this morning not only cut my doggie’s nails so so short that it was painful impacting his walk and making him constantly lick, but one of them was even bleeding. When I went back to ask him what happened, his exact words were: "I did his nails very right." With mega attitude too! Just when I was hoping for an explanation, perhaps some remorse, or a genuine apology, I got a rude attitude and many lies (ones that kept changing), eventually blaming my dog for what happened. He will never lay hands on any of my dogs EVER again, but if you’re a loyal customer to this parlor, I encourage you to demand a retraining across all groomers, as I surely hope this doesn’t happen to any of your beloved furry ones. Shame on everyone I interacted with at Pampered Paws today. Sorry my dear doggie, mama will choose better in the future. Your paws matter.
Just got the best service from Raka and Joshua. They really do this business proud. Thank you for an awesome experience and for giving my dogs such superb treatment.
I have taken my border collie to the Sea Point branch twice, and have been disappointed both times. I booked online for a full groom; when I checked her in at the parlor the groomer filled in a form and ticked off what needed to be done, and we specifically asked for a nail/paw trim. When we picked her up, we paid R325 before she was brought out to us. When I had a proper look at home, I noted that her nails were not clipped and the paws were not trimmed as we had asked, and paid for. So basically, I paid R325 for a wash which I could have done at home. Will not be using them again.
I have taken both my Poodles here for years. After my standard died my Little Sophia (miniature) also started getting seizures from the blower. But this team is PHENOMENAL. They come and collect Sophia and when she returns she is too beautiful for words. The best Poodle Groomer in Town! And the Kindest staff! THE BEST!
Took our puppy for the full package and we are very satisfied. Our dog came back looking gorgeous and very happy. Will definitely support Pampered Paws on a regular basis.
