Waterval farmstay

Real South African farm in the Karoo. Rooms are very quant and traditional. Here you will experience a farm and the way people used to live 60years ago. We loved it.

We made the trip from the Garden Route to Waterfall Farmstay and were pleasantly surprised. ||||If you like the quiet, endless dry hills of the Karoo and enjoy a farm atmosphere, then Waterfall Farmstay is for you. The hosts were lovely, warm people that almost felt like family after our three days of staying there. ||||We stayed in Schoemanshuis- an delightful self catering, old historical cottage but well equipped with everything you need. If you can appreciate the simpler things in life and enjoy rustic, charming accomodation then the cottage is perfect. ||||If you like modern conveniences, please look elsewhere...this place is an peaceful escape from the world where we gazed stars, drank some wine around our fire and drew our focus back to the simpler things in life- a great distraction from our otherwise hectic and fast paced lives. ||||We liked the slightly remote location of the farm- about 30kms on a good dirt road from the N9, and the drive in and out was beautiful although a little bit timely...this we didn't mind as we were in no hurry anywhere. ||||Some great things to do in the area include a day trip to Nieu-Bethesda, and a picnic in the Valley of Desolation. ||||Thank you for your hospitality Ansie & Johan.

The true Karoo experience! Stunning vistas, clean air, peace and quiet. Hospitality as good as it gets. If you enjoy the simple things, this is the place for you. We always wish we can stay longer... Our sixth time to visit. Ideal for bird watchers - 132 species identified on the farm.

Beautiful area, wonderful hosts. Thank you Johan and Ansie for checking in on us and making sure everything is comfortable for us. The kids loved the trails and the waterfall was beautiful. Best Christmas ever! Totally cut off from the world! A true break from every day life!

What a wonderful experience with the friendliest couple. Ansie and Johan offered a camping site, although they were fully booked. Their campsite were in a beautiful location and well maintained. It is definitely a place we will visit again and spend more time as there are walking trails and waterfalls to view...Thank you Johan & Ansie, we enjoyed our stay...

We stayed in Padda Dam - There is a gorgeous braai area and a hidden bench that you don't see in the photos on the website- what a lovely surprise. This place is so gorgeous.||Excellent good old fashioned Hospitality - the special kind that you just don't get anymore.||Clean - everything you need and more. Also very private. Loved it there -.Star gazing to die for. We also did the hike and signed our name in the book at Gods Balcony - I thought the effort that went into making that hiking trail was really special - sensational views at the end! Follow the footprints.
