Review of Builders Cape Gate Dealing with Builders Cape Gate has been nothing short of a nightmare. The so‑called "service" I received from Ronnie Lemon and Mrs Borrels was a masterclass in incompetence. These two are not just useless—they are actively obstructive. I’ve wasted countless trips to the store trying to resolve my issue, only to be met with empty promises and zero action. They say they’ll call you back, but don’t hold your breath—it never happens. Trying to reach them by phone is another exercise in futility; the line just rings endlessly, as if customer calls are deliberately ignored. I purchased a Ryobi chain nearly two years ago, under the assurance of a two‑year warranty. That turned out to be a blatant lie. Despite repeated requests, I can’t even get my machine back to pursue repairs elsewhere. This store is a black hole for customer service. They don’t fix problems, they don’t honor warranties, and they don’t even bother to communicate. The only skill they’ve mastered is apologizing—over and over—for their own pathetic failures. Builders Cape Gate is a disgrace to retail, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. Save yourself the frustration and shop literally anywhere else.

Incompotent staff standing around talking to each other about weekend plans. Damaged products sold without being properly checked. Bad quality products, I bought a barn door and one of the coach bolts broke off in the wall ( one of 4) I returned the next day to get a replacement. One staff member said I can just take it out, the security won't mind. I went through the tills, the cashier said I must pay for the replacement. Thank you builders for again showing me why I must avoid your stores and why I always refer people to brights. I prefer going to other hardware stores but unfortunately you were the only ones that sold this product.

I went to Builers Cape Gate this morning to purchase a braai. I am a visitor and specifically wantes this as a gift for someone. They had one on the floor open which I did not want. There was no one in this department to assist. I asked the lady at the information she then pointed to a lady that then walked over to help me. I told her I wanted a braai that was sealed. She then went looking for one. We waited 37 mins and 6 seconds to be exact. No one could find her. We thought she went on early retirement as she wasn't elderly either. The lady at information saw us waiting and came over to us to ask us if we had been helped we told her what was happening and she then announced more than once over the intercom for someone to report to the Patio department. But noone was to be found. Eventually we left as this was going nowhere at this point. Builders service is Disgusting. Actually there is no service, PERIOD

We were at Builders Cape Gate on Saterday, we were a bit unsure of the product that we were looking for, but from the moment we entered the shop we were assisted by friendly and helpful staff, made the experience peaceful. Thank you Happy days

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Between Cape Gate (on-line order), the customer care line and Hermanus (my nearest branch) they still owe me over R900 for something that was never delivered. If I hadn't queried it after 3 weeks, I'd never have known that the item was out of stock. No feedback. Each of the 3 departments have a different explanation. None offers me my actual money back. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

Worst customer support I’ve ever experienced, and that’s saying a lot. Only half my order arrived, they just forgot to give the other half of the order to the delivery guys. Then don’t say a word so I contact them asking to please send the other half. Every person I talk to on the phone says they’ll look into it and call me back. No ones ever called me back. Long story short it’s been 2 1/2 weeks and I’ve phoned 12 times to try resolve a mistake they made, and still haven’t received the other half of my order😅 insane
