We had an awesome hike, no entry fees. Take a plastic bag with when you hike to keep your empty packets and bottles. I saw that some people just littered and they don't care. We must keep our hiking trails clean. I am will do it again.
One of my favourite running and walking spots in Stellenbosch. Lots of people walking their dogs as well

Beautiful pine forrest with well maintained paths for mountain bikers. The forrest leads up to a couple of trails on Stellenboschberg, both featuring waterfalls. If on foot, make sure to check the map and only walk on designated walking paths, or designated uphill paths for bikes, otherwise you could end up in a bad accident, the mountain bike trails are very busy. Many edible mushrooms around, if you're brave enough and know what to look for 😉
Eden Forest offers trails for walking, hiking, trail running and mountain biking from beginners to advanced level. It is also suitable for dog walking, though one needs to be aware of the cyclists and have a leash ready. There is no entry fee. The forest is very popular and its paths join up with a wider network of paths in the region. There is a good overview map at the entrance gate. At the gate there is also a coffee stall during busier times of the day, offering excellent coffee.
Extensive hikes available, well worth the visit.
